This system does not work mainly because the sellers cannot find out how to adjust invoices to represent what has heppened in best offer cases where multiple items have been bought.

EBay has now opened a demnad to pay and possible unpaid item strike, despit my trying to honour the agreement with the seller who advised me to buy two items on shopping cart and he would then send a proper invoice for direct posting. This appears to be a money earner for eBay via Pitney Bowes.

Do NOT use Global Shipping insertions!

Do NOT believe representations by sellers as they have no leeway at all!

Ask seller to reinsert and bid that way.

Valid points, but I think some of this is simply because the seller (and the buyer, though a buyer shouldn't really need to know) doesn't know how the system works.

I recently came across a GSP seller, and they did something before I purchased that converted the listings I was interested in to ones using regular USPS. It just took him a couple of minutes max.

Some people can go their whole lives and never really live for a single minute.

Apparently any ebay member in USA signed up to the GSP send the items to Pitney Bowes FOC (free).

PBowes then forward it to the buyer at PB costs.

That is why many sellers sign up, but don't realize the USA are losing a lot of business because of the high costs.

Kopes, doesn't work that way. I recently bought some items from USA under the GSP. When you view an item with GSP and it shows the shipping charge, this charge includes the sellers postage to post within the USA to Erlanger KY. To find out how much of the shipping charge is for posting to Pitney Bowes you just go to the Postage and Handling tab and choose USA as the country and put 41018 as the zip code (41018 is Erlanger Zip Code). When you then make a payment for a won item, the Item + postage to 41018 will go to the seller and the remainder of the shipping charge will go to Pitney Bowes.

This doesn't change the amount of shipping paid under your premise, but the distribution of the shipping charge does change from your premise.

Take a look at https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/gsp#separate-payment for PayPal's explanation that can be found as a link on any GSP payment to Pitney Bowes.

further to my previous post . . . . if you find USA items that have Free Postage to USA destinations then you may find that the GSP shipping is reasonable.

One of the items I bought had free USA postage and US$31 GSP shipping. The 1.2kg item got to me from Texas via Erlanger KY by Fedex to country Victoria in 13 days . . . . and this included the Easter period.

I spoke to some members in USA and they said if they send it to PB, they pick up the tab.

In other words, if an ebay member sends it through PB, they will pay for the postage from member to PB.

Whether it's by reimbursement or free post to PB, I don't know.

And sure PB pass on their cost of paying the postage for the ebay member to send it to PB.

I have not had any messages/discussions with any USA sellers regarding the GSP, I have only bought two items from two different sellers and found the price to be good on these two, and the time from seller to me was better than I sometimes get from Sydney to Mildura. I have seen some ridiculous shipping prices on some GSP shipped items, and I just avoid them.

I will take you word for it regarding the PB shipping and accept that there are many aspects of the GSP that are confusing. I was using the PayPal explanation as the basis of my postings on this subject.
