I just noticed by accident on the Australia Post website while looking for something else that a lot of domestic & international mail services are increasing AGAIN on 6th October - just in time for the Christmas mail.
Buyers, please don't blame your sellers for these new rises. Not only do Australia Post charge the postage rates but ebay also charge a 9.9% commission on postage charges & paypal charges a % for each payment.
Sellers cannot absorb these charges but hopefully most sellers will only pass on the actual total of the extra charges!
My personal opinion is that ebay (& online shopping) creates so many more parcels there should be discounts not rises!
I just asked at my local post office & they DON'T have new rates bookets yet - of course!
This C5 medium pre-paid australia post envelope jumped from $1.40 to $1.80 in March or April this year & is now going up to $1.90 + ebays 9.9% will mean an increase to approx $2.10.
The C4 envelope just jumped from $2.70 to $3.20 & now is going to $3.50 + ebays 9.9% will mean an increase to approx $3.90
Those prices of course don't include packing - handling (if it is charged) & also the commission charged by Paypal to accept payments.
Medium C5 Large C4 Large B4 - actual AUSTRALIA POST COSTS
500g | 162 x 229 x 20mm | $1.80
500g | 324 x 229 x 20mm | $3.50
500g | 353 x 250 x 20mm | $4.15 |

This information was available some weeks ago and should come as no surprise to anyone as AP raise their prices twice a year as regular as clockwork.
As for saying that AP should give a discout for ebay, they do if you use the ebay satchels or plain satchels with the ebay labels they are cheaper, the discount on plain satchels has been extended to December.
