Firstly i would just like to say thanks to all that contributes to this site as it's awesome as!
I have a query about an item i have bought but have not payed for as of yet because the seller has not got back to me on a question about correct postage. It has been 24hrs & no reply & think this to be a bit unexceptable. Not sure what the rules & regulations on canceling a item purchased but not payed for are but i would like to cancel my transaction with this seller as i'm getting tired of waiting for a reply.
I do not want to make a bad name for myself on here as i may want to sell items in future & would feel bad canceling but what can i do???
Any advice would be appreciated,
Cheers in advance.

I would like to also personally thank whoever wrote the below as it is what i wanted to know as a customer.
..............................................................................................................
If the seller opens a Non Paying Bidder case, they get their fees back and your account gets a strike. Many members on ebay then have blocks preventing others with 2 or more strikes from bidding or buying. Some sellers also allow a cancellation for genuine reasons in which they will send a mutual cancellation form so they can get their fees back.

I want to thank you for posting this thread. You have no idea how much I appreciate you outlining your experience as a buyer.
Thanks very much . . . . BBL
As with what bump said too, I do kind of see where you're coming from... to be honest, sometimes it seems buyer's aren't even real people and they're just computer bots designed to make a seller's life miserable... ๐ ... but in saying that, read the OPs last reply. They will be more patient in the future. That's about all you can ask.

Sorry bout the wait..... Thanks ![]()
Do you realise what you are thanking posters for?
Both of those posters have added BBL at the end of their posts which means you will never be able to bid on their items as you are on their Blocked Bidders List.
Your impatience will probably see you an many more BBLs although the sellers will be unlikely to tell you so.

24 hour delay in responding. Give me strength.
On Saturday morning got up at 2 am to do the Stansbury seaside market.
Stayed overnight at Stansbury (slept in the van) and then did the Moonta Market on the Sunday.
Got home 8pm Sunday and straight to bed.
Didnโt check the computer until Monday morning, at which time I invoiced the sales not paid for over the previous 2 days.
All sales packed and posted on the Tuesday morning (Monday Public Holiday)
Wed took the day off.
Yes in some cases a 24 hour delay is unacceptable, but whether it is unacceptable will depend on the circumstances. Therefore I would expect any reasonable buyer to wait least wait a 2 to 3 days before becoming so concerned about the transaction that they would want to withdraw from it.
One of the benefits of selling on line is you can chose who you do business with. For my BBL.

Well you can make your BBL all you want over something so simple as a genuine paying customer having a concern about having to wait over 24hrs with no notice. If you are one of these sellers i will be glad that you have blocked me as i will not be paying for such inconsideration. Yeah the seller has a life & other things to do but also has a responsibilty to the customer to make them feel happy ect.
In all cases the customer is right regardless & having that attitude will get you nowhere is this business.

I am glad you have it all sorted now.
My advice would be for you to dive into the deep end and start selling now. Just look around your home and find one thing you no longer need and think that someone else would like. List it and start the selling experience.
I gained a whole new perspective on eBay once I started to sell things. I don't sell much on this ID, but have some other IDs that do quite well.
I wish you well.

I would not block you as a buyer because all I can see is someone who is superkeen to finalise the transaction. Nothing wrong with that ๐
24hrs is a long time to wait for a reply, but not long enough to justify a cancellation on eBay. With eBay you have made a commitment to purchase the moment you bid. In my opinion no site should be able to hold someone to a transaction if the postage price has not yet been agreed to or calculated. If eBay had a shopping cart there wouldn't be an issue. You could add to the cart, ask for calculated/discounted postage and if you don't hear from the seller cancel ... just like most online shopping. It shouldn't be a commitment until money has been exchanged and the goods should remain available for sale until money has been received. Sadly eBay has its own rules.
In response to your comment about the customer always being right, I'm sorry but that isn't true and unfortunately you are likely to find that out quickly when you start selling. My response to unreasonable customers is "Why don't you report this to the Dept of Fair Trading so that they can tell you how unreasonable you are being". Luckily there are enough good customers to make it all worthwhile so best of luck if you do start selling ๐
