I bought an item from country NSW area, when my item arrived here in Adelaide, although it was bubble wrapped securely, the item was damaged. It was a two set Coin Album, minus the coins. On the second set the binder was split from the top down about 4 ". The Seller was happy for me to return the item to him, at my cost, once it was explained why the return. Was told that as these Albums came from the USA
sealed in bubble wrap, and were not opened by him. Okay, l understand that. No problem there.
If l want another set sent out to me again, l have to pay postage again, so this makes three lots of postage @ $7.90 = $23.70 l would have spent in postage, on a $29.95 item, seems a bit rich to me.
I would think that the Seller, should share some of this cost to me, or have l got it all wrong ???
What to do others think ???

For all your interest, here is a screen shot of the buyers last message in which it is staed that they would like a credit.
AND ONCE AGAIN..THE ITEMS WERE NOT PURCHASED ON EBAY!

The seller is under no obligation to pay any return postage, however a good seller would offer to do so.
Given that the seller in in US, I would open a paypal dispute for INAD and send back to the address paypal give you, by trackable means.
Keep all receipts to prove postage to paypal should it become necessary.

Firstly...I am the seller.
Secondly...the items are sealed by the manufacturer and we have no way of inspecting them without opening the original sealed package.
Thirdly...you messaged us on ebay 16/4/14 after you purchased 18/3/14. We responded prompty and said the item could be returned. We recieved that item back on the 22/514.
BUT you messaged us ON EBAY and requested a store credit, which we are more than happy to give. Even after it has taken more than TWO MONTHS for you to return the item.
You also did not send us your postage receipt which under our terms are required to provide for a refund on postage.
I also said nowhere in our communication that you had to pay for return posatge. We have organised a replacement from the supplier and they are sending it to us..and you are welcome to a replacement if you would like, and we are happy to send it..BUT YOU ASKED FOR A STORE CREDIT
AND FINALLY...HERE IS THE CLINCHER! You did not even buy it on Ebay, you bought it from our own online store.
Thought all you Forum Readers would like that one!
Cheers All

As you know, you are alway welcome to a replacement, refund or store credit. Please just tell me which one.
We need your receipt so we can claim the cost as an expense in our business, you are welcome to email a copy to us.

attic case
take a photo copy of the postage receipt and then send the original to the seller.
Or, if you both need the original (as I suspect the seller does), a notorized copy of the receipt will suffice.

oh and attic case
without getting into the actual issues involved here, I think it is great that as you said you never set out to identify the seller, you were just asking for advice, however it seems that it is good the seller did come into the thread to clarify and rectify the situatioin as i think this might have gotten very tricky and confusing for you through emails etc over a period of time.
I ghuess what I really want to say is kudos to you for owning your mistake and your public apology to the seller.
But seller, to be a bit fair, it was you that outed yourself as the opther party here, so don't be too harsh, eh? I think you have shown great customer service etc, so kudos to you as well.
For you both, I hope that you both get the outcome now that sees you both happy.
All the best
