Buy now and best offer reviewing question

Hi,

Under the Buy now/best offer system, if i make an offer and then a couple of hours laetr decide i want to increase my offer it appears that this is not allowed. 

Seems strange that you can not offer more money for an item, it will only let you buy the item at full price or stick to your current offer. 

I suppose that is why it is called best offer, that was your best offer, anything higher would make it, not your best offer. 

And it probably gets too much like an auction if you can keep re-submitting higher offers over time. 

It is just a strange situation.

If you make a best offer the seller has 48 hours to accept or reject it, once they reject it, make a counter offer or it times out you can then make a higher offer, you can make upt ot 3 offers on any one item. I believe, although I have never tried it, that yoou can withdraw an offer so if you can do that it would probably then allow you to go on and make a higher offer straight away.
