Please beware of cheap tyres with the brand names its cheap for a reason they are called parralel tyres they are not made for the Australian market there is no warranty at all with these tyres. So buyer beware don't buy kumhos or hankook tyres eg 2056515 $50 or 55 these are parralel tyres which are a tyres either over 4 years old or for the chinese or usa market not ours

A word to the wise.
I buy my tyres from a real tyre shop, where I get them fitted and balanced in the price.
Really, how could you get something that weighs more than AP handle, for two much less four, and expect to come out ahead?
Online buying is generally best for things that are conducive to online buying.
Next you will be complaining about having to pay many thousands of dollars freight for the prime mover you bought from the other side of the country.

Actually Davewil that would depend on what type of tyre you are purchasing. My brother buys high performance tyres online and has them shipped to him interstate and always comes out on top financially. For the vast majority of buyers your theory would stand true, but certainly not for all.

The OP did mention Kuhmo and Hankook. Not exactly high end.
I would also warrant I could buy Pirelli or Yokahama cheaper in person, too.
If you're talking race rubber, then that is an entirely different subject. And I bet your brother doesn't buy them on eBay.

Hi i can tell you know that tyre retail shops hate people buying online and they slug them hard for fitting them , for eg: 2056515 budget tyres is about 70 fitted but say you buy here 55 plus say 15-20 freight each tyres then you go to the retail to fit up it cost you 30 each tyre so in the end you paid 100 buck for a tyre that cost 70 to fit. As for the high performace tyres thats where the reatil makes his money as it takes longer to fit more risk involved

It makes sense that any business will slug you more for using a service if you don't buy the parts from them in the first place. Why should tyres be any different?
It is a lot cheaper per tyre to buy them and have them fitted, balanced and aligned than it is to have them aligned only after an accident for example.
Businesses make their profit on the actual tyre purchase and throw in the balancing and aligning at heavily subsidised prices for their customers.
