This is something I have thought of as I have an adult son who has brain damage .I am his carer.
He has asked if I could help him open up an account here to buy things.I have said that between State Trustees and myself we can help him buy things from here when needed (ie;using my account).
He is fortunate to have a carer but I know that many don't have that and there is always the possibility that he could get a friend to help him set up an account without either myself or State Trustees knowledge.
To sellers he just would be a faceless buyer and there could be all sorts of problems for the seller and himself. He may well be awarded the top prize for numptiness .He would not be meaning to be difficult ...he would however need a lot of things explained...though would most likely never tell anyone that himself.
The boards kind of open up my eyes up even more to those possibilities .
Has anyone else faced similar issues or thought about them?

Nothing of mine has been SR.
Nothing is missing at all as far as I can see.

Lisa,no offence but you state your son is 23 but on CS you state you are only 36-I'm struggling with this point alone.:-(

no proof or apologies forthcoming I take it ?
In the interest of those with disabilities, their carers and ebay as a whole I will SR this whole thread. Some responses are enough to really put people off the place.

If communication is able to be received both ways (from you to him and him to you), why not just ask him to tell you if there is something he wants to buy from online/eBay? When you're together, you can both log on using your account and let him show you what he wants. If it fits his price range, he can buy it. He wouldn't necessarily need his own account.

Pardon my ignorance. I neglected certain parts of the original post which already explained what I suggested in the post above.
Well, I guess aslong as he can be trusted to use it safely (and not blow all his money) and aslong as it's legal for him to have one, I don't see why not. It might take some time to prepare him for it but just see how you go.

I will use my account when he wants to buy something and do the buying for him ๐
