Buying from USA now

I need to buy a small item from the USA.  I'm aware there may be postal delays.  My question is:  do you think there's a good chance that Covid disruptions will stop the parcel from getting here?

Anyone bought something from the USA lately?

I’ve just ordered something from a US seller, directly, not through eBay. I don’t know whether or not they sell on eBay. (Large company but with few sales to Australia, hence no GST involved – but that’s by the way.)

The last time that I ordered from them, shipping to Australia was $29.90 USD, via USPS First class. It took 16 days.

I’ll be happy to update with arrival date of this order, for the information of anyone wanting to know about current delivery timeframe example.

I'm not too fussed on the arrival date, but is it something red?

No, not these particular items!

They're not for me; they don’t come in red; I’m all redded up at the moment.

However, for the lovers of red everywhere, I did order red items from a large Australian cookware/bakeware/tableware company just yesterday – two grand cru ramekins (Emile Henry) and a red lacy-looking Le Creuset trivet.

i will also be buying red tracksuit pants (Puma) for a family member who needs a reminder that red is the colour of movement, joy and sheer energy.

There we have it – the current Red Report.

Bit of hit and miss with the delivery times.

In general we are experiencing delivery in 2-3 weeks, UNLESS it transits through the LA international gateway, then it can take forever.

We have an inward parcel last scanned there on 14 July and still waiting.

Zwilling have a good name. (Also, there's no denying that they are red and extremely attractive.)

These are the shears on which I have my eye, though. (They're not red, but they are mine, mine, mine - or at least, they are going to be mine, mine, mine.)

Some very nice knives in there as well countess, but I really don't need any more Japanese knives and I reckon those would put a serious hole in my bank account...............sigh.

Hey dvd.h, I forgot to ask. The item you're getting / got that was going via economy?, (?) was it from the US or UK?

I said earlier in this thread that I would post when my ordered items arrived.

The parcel arrived today.

It took 43 days (First-Class Package International Service) from despatch to delivery. Anyone ordering from the US at this time should be prepared for quite a protracted delivery time.

I veered between emotional numbness and pepper-sharp tears today. I placed that order one day before the world changed forever, and of course there's no need for the items ordered now.
