CHANEL NO 5 - BEWARE SCAMMERS

I have been scammed by various sellers of Chanel perfume. I have cancelled by never get the refund from ebay. I have just placed another order for Chanel and other perfumes that said it was selling from Victoria,  Australia but it was USA. I have asked ebay to look into this scam and others selling Chanel so will see what they do.

Ebay should not be letting all these thieves and scammers steel from people. This should be a site where you know you are safe to buy.

May I ask then the point of posting on the member to member forum about problems you have (all of your own making) if you are not going to come back and read the replies?

You also claimed in your post you cancelled, buyers cannot cancel, they can ask but sellers are not obligated to agree

eBay very very rarely reads here, if you want an eBay reply, contact eBay

They will only tell you what you want to hear, but seems that is what you are looking for

I bought over 1yr ago but don't go in to e bay very often so never read the reply's from then which I only just came cross. I really don't know how to navigate the site.

I will take a look like you explained. The seller contacted me & said the item was shipped from Australia. You are saying it is probably from China which means it is a Fake.

I said if it was from Australia & not a Fake I am happy but like you say I will go to Myers. It obviously is not a good idea to buy anything expensive on E bay.

Thank you for your explanation of e bay

Sorry. I may have unintentionally misled you.

I am not saying that your particular seller shipped the item from China.

I was just meaning that usually when we come across an item listed as here in Australia but where the seller is overseas, we find the seller is located in China.

It is perfectly possible that your perfume seller (The one in USA) has a warehouse located here in Vic. If so, then I would expect the item to get to you quite quickly and for the seller to give you a domestic tracking number.

I feel you will receive your item. Whether it will be the real deal or not, I do not know but I would have serious reservations.

If you use ebay, do as I suggested and really click around and experiment-maybe checking out any past purchases, the seller and feedback etc

Always, always, check the negative feedback.

I am getting the sense your perfume seller usually delivers the item but over the months has sold a variety of items and has had some of those items (they don't seem to be perfume sales) drop shipped direct from Amazon. Which is not a good look. Might as well have bought direct from Amazon for cheaper.

Some comments about the perfumes sold are that they are similar but not the same as the originals so you're right to question if they are authentic.

It's not that you can never get authentic brand names on ebay. You sometimes can but really only through an authorised retailer eg maybe Myer.

But authorised retailers are generally selling at the RRP or same price as in the shop or on their online store.

So if you use ebay, be extremely careful. Check out that seller, their feedback, re read the ad & believe nothing on ebay that talks about warranties etc.

I recommend you have no further contact with the "seller" of your  item / other items listed on the AU site.

Every "seller" has your details.

Always beware of phishing emails, run your virus and keylogging protection and change your passwords on a regular basis.

Be prepared to open a  dispute through eBay's Money Back Guarantee

https://pages.ebay.com.au/ebay-money-back-guarantee/

Unfortunately since eBay decided to give automatic feedback to sellers on other sites,

"Order delivered on time with no issues"   -    505  feedback  in  this case,

buyers will be lulled into a  false sense of  security.

In general, It's often before buyers realise they have a problem

(Buyers can override it if required)

Re: CHANEL NO 5 - BEWARE SCAMMERS

I must reiterate (as I posted on your original thread as well as elsewhere, OP) that you won’t get original new Chanel perfume on eBay. No ifs or buts. No “Maybe this is a good seller” or “This seller has great reviews” or even a figure in white and a glowing crown on their cherubic locks, hovering mid-air with great feathery wings beating gently, announcing in a sweet angelic tone “Glory! This day hath the seller bade thee welcome to have sent unto thee the wondrous true perfume of Chanel !”

Chanel don’t sell on eBay. Authorised sellers (authorised by Chanel as resellers of Chanel) are not to sell on eBay. There are sellers of fake Chanel, yes - and of course many such listings are taken down by eBay bots. But some sellers may be tweaking the way they list so as to avoid automatic detection.

The fakes are often very good in terms of looking like the genuine bottles and packaging. The scent seems fine at first sniff. The fragrance development is more like fragrance decay, though. Try it on your skin if you are happy to apply who knows what sort of carcinogenic chemicals to your body… the risk of which makes the unpleasant (or swiftly dissipating) fragrance aspect a minor issue.

There may be some legitimate sellers selling s/h Chanel perfumes on eBay. What can I say? Only that I am either too sceptical or I’m sufficiently sceptical. When I have bought Chanel perfumes, I purchased from the nearest Chanel shop or from Myer.

(I no longer buy Chanel perfume anyway.)

The fake perfumes may or may not be sent but they're definitely not being sent by a dropshipping seller in the US.

That's why I warned sassy in my previous post.

eBay have  removed  similar listings from the selling account in the past

I wondered that too at first but I think some sellers can get a special licence or some such thing.

Some others, I am sure, just break the rules.

---------

Ebay seems to have a bot for everything else-responding to messages, to chat, to how it deals with sales, payments etc, so I can't see why ebay can't have a bot to pick up sales of chanel.

I just looked up chanel no 5 on ebay and there are dozens of listings with it in the title, bold as brass and no tweaking required.

Some sellers have cautiously put a bracket around the word chanel but most others have not. And some ads end with the the word Genuine in the title.

All I looked at are listed as new. No listing is dirt cheap, although probably cheaper than retail.

If all of these are fakes and I have complete confidence in you and Casey that they are, then ebay could very easily do something about it.

Sassy and some other new buyers are quite right, ebay is giving some dodgy sellers a free pass.

The scammers / hijackers   are having a field day since eBay started giving automatic feedback for ALL transactions on other sites.

Digging a little deeper there appears to be quite a few of these US registered accounts, all   identical listings for  6-8  different designer perfumes, including Chanel, showing as located in Victoria.

We always advise  "check  a seller's  feedback"

but when most have them have over 500 ebay automated  positive feedback

"Order delivered on time with no issues"

which is mostly for selling cheap dropshipped items ,  IMO  , to a buyer, they  look  like trustworthy, eBay  recommended sellers.

Maybe we should start adding

disregard eBay automated positive feedback
