I bought an item in San Francisco (just across the bay from SanFran International Airport) 10 days ago thinking that shipping would be faster than buying from the East Coast.
How wrong am I
The item went by road to SACRAMENTO then flew to GROVE CITY, OH 43123 and then was trucked to INDEPENDENCE, KY where it sat for two days and has now been sitting in Erlanger for 36 hours.
Its been moving further away from me for the past week.
**bleep** is going on?
Who's lame **bleep** idea is this?
I used to be able to get items within a week, now to speed things up I am going to have to wait 2 to 3 weeks it seems.
I wish I had been advised of this, I would have most certainly bought else where.
I did try upgrading my postage, but that was not allowed.
Well done ebay, you sure know how to burn people (yes I read how the seller will get a 5 star rating and that you will delete any negative or neutral comments that I may leave.

The seller is using the Global Shipping Program and the items are sent to a Pitney Bowes facility where they are repacked and then shipped to you using the most expensive USPS service available.
Most sellers have no idea how this service works or how expensive it is as it only costs them the local postage to send the item to PB and they are provided with full tracking and insurance for seller protection purposes.
All you can do is let the seller know how unhappy you are and that you would not buy from him again.

How is it eBay's fault how USPS route an item?
How is it the seller's?
Any neg you leave SHOULD be wiped - the seller posted in a timely manner. I am fairly sure they wouldn't have hand delivered it to SFIA. Because if they did, it would still be at SFIA. How the F is it their fault how the postage service works?
Four years on eBay and you still don't get it. You certainly won't from me!

I have bought many items from the US and out of California.
My fastest item only took 5days.
I bought from this seller because they were in CA which is on the other side of the Pacific Ocean that I am on.
I was hoping for fast shipping, when I learnt that I was traveling Fedex I thought 10 days on the outside - but 6 is more realistic.
When I saw that my item was traveling by road eastwards i was shocked and thought the seller had mixed the labels up.
Now that I hear the 'Priority Post" is Putney Bowes ?? whatever I am majorly upset.
If my item had gone with Fedex to SFIA and gotten on a Fedex plane last Tuesday - I wouldn't be here writing.
But in someones infinite wisdom to speed things up my item must be trucked eastward and sit around for a few days before being allowed to fly international.
If ebay and the seller had been upfront in telling me that prioity shipping means ebay shipping system where everything is trucked to the central mid east and then shipped from there, I could have made an informed decision.

as others are saying HOW IS THIS EBAYS FAULT? the seller also might not even know this was going to happen. Lighten up for gods sake. As everyone knows, you dont buy off ebay if you want your item immediately and if you expect such, you need to re-think your buying needs.

If the seller is using Pitney Bowes, the shipping information would have shown that Customs Services & tracking were part of the price, like this, where Customs charges (even if $0) are displayed & charged separately.
If the seller just had a standard shipping charge, then it would not have been sent to Pitney Bowes for re-distribution.
To address the point I quoted, though.
Leaving a comment about how the postage service handled the item is not leaving a comment about the seller - especially if the seller is not using Pitney Bowes, as then presumably they would have simply written your address on the parcel and sent it, and I doubt they included an instruction for the delivery process to be delayed by the route the postage service takes it on. If they are using Pitney Bowes, the opportunity to learn more about that process is displayed on the listing.

I think you should get real. As I said before, your seller has posted in a timely manner. YOUR issue is with the postage service, yet you contemplate adverse feedback for the seller.
I would hope eBay would delete any negatives you left for the seller on that point.
I have a life, thanks, so your offer of one, given it probably not a real one and you have no capacity to offer me one anyway, is not uptaken.

If ebay had not intervened and created 'this priority shipping', my parcel wouldn't have traveled across to kentucky and burnt 7days of travel going in the wrong direction.
It was put on Fedex in SanFran and then 9 days later it is back on Fedex coming to australia, everything inbetween is burnt time, there is nothing fast about that.
There is an old saying, 'Don't Fix what is not broken'
Shipping from California takes normally 1 week to 10 days (including non business days)
The seller says he is given free shipping from ebay (I tried explaining that nothing is free - the buyer always pays)
Ebay give 5 stars if the seller can get the item to Kentucky in 4 days.
Sadly this used to be similar to how shipping was done in the past, that a seller woyuld get 5 stars if they got the item to trhe buyer fast. Now the buyer must wait extra time for these 4 days of their item going nowhere to pass.
Maybe if I was sourcing an item out of Alaska from a reindeer farmer 1000 miles from the nearest town - this 'priority shipping' might be good
.Its like if I bought an item from my neigbour via ebay and they use the priority shipping, thus they send the item to the USA to Kentucky because ebay has given them free shipping, then I wait another two weeks for the item to be sent to me - do you not see that as a time waster?

I don't see how it is the seller's fault.
I don't see how you can hold the seller responsible for the postage service.

max I too buy a lot from the USA, and have been increasingly frustrated by the time lag now the whole pitney bowes thing.
It is ridiculous and has doubled the time it takes to recieve items from certain parts of the USA. However, it is really not the fault of the
Sellers as I found out. Most of them are completely unaware that by using the preferred global shipping programme the arrival times are so slow.
I havent blamed the Sellers, all of them posted quickly and I gave all great fb. I know for a fact some of them will not be using the GSP again as they were horrified with the difference in price & the time difference. Now I ask prior to purchase if they will consider not using the GSP & I tell them why, if they arent up for it I will generally move on.
Perhaps giving your Seller the benefit of the doubt might be an option.
