A call out for a little help, which would be much appreciated as I'm getting very frustrated.
I bought some ear buds in April which arrived, were working and were fine for a few months. Then the left ear bud failed leaving sound only coming from the right ear bud.
When I tried to contact the seller to request an exchange or refund, the item number does not register despite my copying and pasting it from my eBay purchase history, giving the message "Oops, that isn't quite right. Please correct the item number." So instead I click "This is not about an item" and proceed to leave a message from there.
So far, I have had no response from the seller, after multiple attempts to contact them.
The item, as listed in my Purchase History, no longer has a 'Return This Item' button, and I can find nowhere in the eBay system that offers the ability to return a defective item, although under Australian consumer law (where I am based) I am entitled to a repair, refund or replacement. I can't even find anywhere that I can contact eBay to alert them that an item number is no longer valid. Consequently, there is no option to ask eBay to step in, because I can't get to the first part of the process.
Any ideas?

April is far too long ago for either eBay or PayPal to do anything
As for the Australian consumer law spiel which is so often used out of context
This would assume
The seller is registered in Australia or China ?
That they are an authorised seller or re seller of the item
Were these genuine ear buds or a knock off ?
If you have bought from an authorised seller, they would have supplied you with a warranty, it they are not from an authorised seller, there is no warranty

My understanding is that ebay and paypal will cover you if you fail to receive an item or if the item you receive is defective in some way or significantly does not match the item description when you receive it.
Your item arrived okay and was working as described when it arrived. It was in fact working properly for quite some time.
So this does not fit the scenario for an ebay return.
What you are needing is a return for an item under warranty, for something that has become faulty during the period of warranty.
Whether your ear buds come into that category, I don't know. As others have said, where did you buy them from?
If they came from China, then forget it as overseas purchases are not subject to Australian terms and conditions.
If you bought from Australia and the ear buds came with a warranty card, contact the manufacturer.
