Charged $3 more at checkout

I purchased an electric throw this morning from a power seller based in Melbourne. The Ad states the "buy it now' price was $39.90 with free postage, when I paid at the check-out I was charged $42.90. I have messaged the seller asking for an explaination and a refund of $3.  Sorry to say this but unfortunately It is sellers like these that send us buyers back to the bricks and mortar shops. This is not about $3 it is the principle of being overcharged.

How can they get away with doing this?

Is this an acceptable practice on ebay?

If I do not get a response, can I cancel the sale?

Was it this listing?

Electric Blanket Heated Throw Snuggle Rug 9 Heat Settings Timer Control

If it was, the listing offers a choice of 3 colours and the price varies depending on what colour you choose.

If you selected purple, the price is $42.90

Check the listing again that it doesn't state "free - pick up"

Or there is a glitch with listing from iphones. It will show as free postage in search but when you look at the postage section in the listing, it will show the postage charges. So check that as well.

Otherwise the seller may have made an error and is prepared to send free post or you can ask the seller to cancel the transaction if you wish. You cannot cancel it, the seller needs to send you a mutual cancellation which you then agree to.

Thanks for you time and replies. Greatly appreciated

The Standard Postage = Free

Standard Postage w Signature = $3

Express Delivery = $999 (?) possibly meant to be $9.90

Yes, I now see the purple one is indeed $42.90. I believe that it should have been listed seperately, as it the ad states $39.90 with free postage. As I said, it is not about the $3 it is about fairness.

Thanks again for your help.

Sport, how did you get the item up?

When I did advanced, nothing came up for the buyers ID?

Still nothing.

There's a delay in sold listings showing up when you search by seller or buyer, it may not appear until tomorrow.

I did an Advanced Search for electric throw, exact words, any order, priced from 39.90 to 39.90.

This shows how stupid the search is now. If you just do a normal keyword search for electric throw that item does not even appear. It does appear down the bottom under More items related to "electric throw"

It also shows that some sellers do not get their duplicate listings removed.
