Come on Australia post lift your game.

I put a lock on my mail box yesterday as Australia post keeps stuffing my parcels in and they are falling out on the ground or half hanging out so easy for someone to steal.

So today I hear the mail lady and go out and what's she doing writing a collect card. What the my car is in the drive and she didn't even check if I was home.

So as far as I can see they are putting up there prices and lowering there services  😞

Seems obvious to me ,that with massive escalation in parcel movements,we all need to do away with the old "letter box" and put something more appropriate in place and help the poor old overloaded postie/parcel delivery person out and maybe incorporate better security at the same time.JMO

I love the mail boxes in the USA, they are nice and big and there is a little flag on them that the postie puts up or down to let you know you have mail.;-)

Maybe instead of posting profits, and changing services to post even more profits next financial year, contribute to the economy AP by creating more postal worker jobs - so the services that we pay for like TRACKING and SIGNATURE ON DELIVERY are delivered.

Those mail boxes in the USA are the equivalent of our Roadside Mail Boxes that are used in the country where the houses are miles from the road.

It is not unusual for them to be 44 gallon drums set on poles and the little flags are so the householder does not waste time checking their box if there is no mail.

Re: Come on Australia post lift your game.

I had a friend move a few weeks ago. They were waiting for an express post item and it never showed. They called me as a seller and asked what to do. I told them to go into the post office and ask if it was there. Turned out there was 3 weeks worth of mail there! They have a mail box but there is no postie in the suburb!!! Real estate conveniently forgot to tell them!

Re: Come on Australia post lift your game.

I believe writing out a mail collect at the Post Office Card is common practice by Posties. Last week I was buying stamps at my area's Post Office and was given a parcel that had been delivered by my Postie in the morning before his afternoon "Collection Card" reached my home letter box!

We all pay huge postal charges for parcels to be 'home delivered,' yet these lazy Posties cause many 'at home' punters to have to spend time, effort and petrol costs (in my case a 45min round trip in the Post Office) to collect a parcel that should not have been redirected to the Post Office.

Re: Come on Australia post lift your game.

Apart from draging up a nearly 5 year old thread, which I could forgive, it is a bit rude to suggest that posties are lazy. Most of them do an excellent job and are paid a pittance for deliveries of parcels.

If you are mostly at home or have a safe place to have it dropped you can sign a form at your post office which allows the postie to sign for it and drop it off without your signature if you don't hear the doorbell or are not at home. It is a lifesaver for me and I have never had a problem with it.
