On the 3rd of June, I bought a Nintendo 3DS. IT was bought at around midnight and not paid for straight away... The next morning around 10am I get a message saying "just waiting for payment then I can send the DS" , I didn't reply immediately. A few hours later I get a message asking me if I still wanted to buy the DS.. I explained that I wouldn't be able to pay until the Friday (last week) and that if he didnt want to go through with the sale then to just send me a mutual cancelation and he can relist; he said he would wait..
I sent through the money via PayPal on Friday morning and sent a message telling him so.. I got a message around 2am Tuesday morning apologising for not sending the DS as he had forgotten it was a public holiday and would send it tomorrow (He might have meant Tuesday)
It hasn't been marked as posted yet so I sent him a message as I know that not all sellers mark items as posted.
So far there has been no reply....
I do know the dangers of buying electronic devices on ebay so I don't need to know about that.
I also noticed that he has "relisted this item or something similar" I know this usually just means that they have twomore than one item the same, but I was wondering what the chances are of him having two 3DSs to sell as he doesn't appear to be a refurbisher..
Is there any reason for concern, or am I just being paranoid? Normally I wouldn't worry but it was just weird that he sent me two messages within 12 hours of me buying the DS and now nothing.

This second item is sold now.
Perhaps the seller did have 2 of this item?
11 sales since end of May - 3 positive feedback received.
He told me in a message that the 3DS had two downloaded games on the console..
I don't care that he didn't mark it as posted. what's annoying me is that he sent me two messages within 12 hours asking for the payment so I explaned what was going on and now all I'm getting is excuses every time I message him. "So sorry I forgot about the public holiday I'll post it tomorrow." next message "Oh sorry, I got busy with work and forgot to post it, I'll post it when I get up in the morning"
If he had posted it when he said he was going to it would have been here by now...
I have sent him another message asking if he had sent it but so far no reply

in your OP you bought the item on the 3rd june so thats 12 days ago so i'd give him another couple of days and if you dont receive the item open up an INR dispute and then he might get back to you

I did give him the option to cancel the purchase and relist it after the two messages I got asking for payment but he said he was fine to wait until Friday... He got the money on Friday then said he would send it after the public holiday which was on the 9th.
If he doesn't have the money to refund me he could just explain that in the first place instead of stringing me along..
I think I will just open an INR dispute now..

I still hadn't heard from the seller as of Monday, so I opened a dispute... Still no response from the seller either to the dispute or the messages I sent him

Sounds very odd.
In one sense, it appears that seller doesn't know how ebay selling works, as someone posted above this is the only feedback the seller has left a buyer: Just waiting for payment then will send asap. Which is not how feedback works, it is left after item is paid for.
The seller has sold and received pos feedback for 4 items in June though. Others sold, but no feedback yet.
The seller requests the money in the first day or 2 after sale, then after they receive the money no contact from them.. no indication if the item is posted etc. That doesn't make sense.

It is really odd.. He sent me two messages asking for the money so I said I couldn't pay until the Friday and he could cancel the sale if he didn't want to wait.. He said he would wait but then no contact from him after the 2 messages he sent previously...
He hasn't responded to the dispute as yet

Is there any evidence that he has been active online?
Maybe he got crook? Might be in hospital, or something.

I'd believe that if he hadn't "forgotten" to send the package twice after I'd asked if it had been sent.
I sent a message pretty much immediately after he sent me one apologising for not sending it and telling me he would send it express post (Obviously I told him you can't send lithium batteries via air mail) and there was no reply, so I don't think it's likely that he would have done something to land him in hospital in the 2-5 minutes it took me to respond to his last mesage. If he did, he should probably not leave the house again
