Sadly some Aust Post drivers don't stick their their own rules. I found most of this info on reasons NOT not to use Safe Drop from your link to be very amusing:
# the front of the property is close to the street
# someone walking past might easily see it
# your parcel would be out in the weather.
My front door meets all these reasons NOT to leave a parcel there....but they still do, damn them!
My back yard is open, has no gates or any dogs but it does have a good parcel hidey spot near the back door which no one walking part could see....and it is protected from the weather. The AP contractors follow the directions but not necessarily the AP employees (who delivers what seems to depend on which depot the parcel is coming from). I suspect they can't be bothered.
