I was just checking out what people are selling the new $5 notes for, to see how optimistic some people are (and there are some very optimistic ones out there!). I came across a seller selling a run of 100. I looked at the price and thought he was a nutter. $125 for 100 $5 notes. Then I looked at the postage. $500. His reason, part of the price is built into the postage that helps keep the price low. I'm thinking someone hasn't worked out that they get hit for fees on postage. I think someone is in for a rude shock when their eBay bill comes in.
I feel like telling him but he's got over 300 feedback as a seller, you'd think he'd have worked it out by now.

Do you know what the mintage was that makes them more scarce than others? I'll have to go through my bag and check what I've got. It tends to get weighed down with 5 and 10c coins. Are any 5c years scarcer than the rest?

Some people have got more money than sense. Like seriously? For 2x $5 notes? Obviously being the first of a new design the face value will probably increase in years to come, but by this much? He's got another pair that are going off too. I'm kicking myself now. Back in the old days when ATM's used to spit out $5 notes, I used to pull out $500 in 5's (because I could). They were all consec numbers too. They'd probably be worth a bit now I'd imagine. There's a lot of things we'd do differently with the benefit of hindsight.

1986,87,95 and 96 are scarce because they weren't issued for circulation.
2011 only 1.7 million were issued and 1985 2 million were issued which makes these 2 coins the scarcest.
the 1972 5c is the scarcest and 1985,86 weren't issued for circulation so all these coins are scarce and have a high value.

Yes the 2000 $1 mule is worth a bit and if it's in great condition it's worth alot.
Sold one years ago for $6500,back in the days when a coin sold for what it was worth haha.
I see to many coins going so cheap now that they have become unworthy( is that even a word lol)?
