Just wanted to vent, just found out that there is no buyer protection from Pay Pal after 45 days! I thought I was being considerate and patient, after paying immediately and then the seller informing me they were out of stock, but it should be in soon. So I waited, and we communicated a few more times. Now it seems that I have lost my money.
Not happy!

Hard lesson learnt. Never ever accept a sellers excuse for not sending an item within their advertised timeframe. Open dispute at 45 day mark. Others may be along to give better information on retrieving your money, a chargeback or something.

the following text appears on every PayPal payment advice:
Issues with this transaction?
You have 45 days from the date of your PayPal payment to open a dispute in the Resolution Centre.
Never let a seller string you out beyond the 45 day claim period. You can put in a claim after 44 days and then have 20 days to escalate. This means you can get 64 days coverage.
I know this doesn't help you now, but at least you know for all future purchases.

bsal is right. NEVER accept a sellers excuse for late postage, but do keep the lines of communication open.
I don't agree with opening a dispute at the 45th day mark though. For Australian sellers, this is entirely way too long. As a buyer, if your item hasn't been received within 21 days (after checking the tracking to see what's going on), I would open a dispute (and again, after communicating with the seller).

When you signed up for your Paypal account you ticked a box to say you had read the terms, conditions and policies so either you lied when you ticked it or you did know that you had to open a dispute within 45 days. That is aside from the fact that it tells you that every time you make a payment!
