I am waiting for an item from Sydney to Brisbane that was sent via Amarex (I know, bad company). The parcel was registered at the Sydney sorting facility since 3rd Dec and has gone nowhere since. The item is not in transit according to both the E-Bay tracking info and the Amarex web site. The item was due to arrive on the 14th but hasn't (no surprises.) I filed an INR this morning and noticed that when submitting an INR the item is apparently "in transit". Where is this information coming from?

It's likely an automatic status applied in the resolution centre when things are marked as shipped, without actually pulling the data from real tracking - from memory it says the same thing when a buyer marks an item as sent in the returns process, even if they don't upload a tracking number for ebay to pull real results for.
A bit like how an order status will show as "shipped", even without the item actually being handed over to a carrier.

Try to open an enquiry with Amarex. I have heard people say their parcels miraculously appear after they open an enquiry. Or ask the seller to open an enquiry with them.
