Does Ebay Actually Make Seller follow Rules

Hi All, Im really frustrated with a seller and Ebay atm, Wondering if anyone else has come across this and how it worked out. I wanted an item that description stated Postage at buyers expence, I also contacted seller to make sure he would post. he said no problem. I won the item, $120, Postage was $30, Yep happpy at that, Then seller demands I pay by Bank Account as paypal is to expensive, I said I want paypal and will pay the fees if need be. he refused so I called Ebay, They said yep will contact him and tell him  he must follow rules. Then I get an invoice for  $120 item, $30 extra for postage and EXTRA FEE for Paypal of $150. Whats the go? If I want the item am I expected to either pay the extra or just let the clock go?   What are your thoughts etc? Thanks

first, I agree with a previous answer, I think the seller might have just made a mistake with the invoice.

As I see it, the amount is $120 plus the agreed amount of $30 for postage.    The problem is that the seller does not want to be paid by paypal - however, offering paypal is compulsory, so too bad.

So, calmly, ask for a revised invoice with the agreed amounts $120 plus #30 postage.   Hopefully you have not been yelling at him yet, so just say you think there must be a mistake with the invoice.    Don't say you expect to pay by paypal.

If the seller refuses, then it is time to choose if you want a dispute process, but at the end of the day you can't make a seller sell to you;   or you could request a cancellation.   What's the worst thing that will happen to you? - you will get one non-paying mark against you, this will not affect your buying much.

As to the contact information thing  - this is a ebay glitch that I have had happen a couple of times - you are entitled to the contact informtion and if you ring ebay they will email you the contact details.    As pointed out, also in other posts, the sellers phone no is already visible on his listings.

Does Ebay Actually Make Seller follow Rules

Let's be realistic: if eBay forced every seller to 'follow the rules', they'd never make a profit - and profit is, after all, any Corporation's little tin god - eBay is absolutely no different.
