Aparently eBay sides with obvious thieves, then to rub salt into the wounds hides the eBay transaction so you cant even leave bad feedback for the seller/thief.

I haven't had the experience, but plenty of sellers will tell you (and have proof) that eBay does indeed side with thieving buyers. All you can do is follow the procedures to ensure, as best as possible, that you get seller protection.

eBay almost always sides with the buyer no matter what
I'm assuming you have changed the time period in the drop down menu to cover the date the item was purchased?
If it has indeed been totally removed, that usually means eBay themselves have removed it for some reason and they should have emailed you stating as such
But without knowing any details at all, nobody here can suggest what might of happened or what you can do
eBay staff neither read nor run these boards, so you would need to contact them for an eBay answer
Was the item not as described?
Yet to arrive?
All items not included?
Did you open the appropriate case for the situation after the seller failed to (help? reply at all?)
Like I said, hard to know how to respond without knowing the situation

I am fully aware of that, but there are far more thieving buyers than sellers. As you have experienced.

You haven't told us anything about the transaction, so it's a bit hard for us to work out what actually happened.
What is intriguing me though is you have a score of 1842. I can't see any feedback as a seller so presumably you have had something like 1900 or more purchases on ebay ( as I doubt every seller has given feedback). And you've been on ebay since 2003.
Surely this can't be your first purchase where something has gone wrong? If it is, then it's an impressive testament to the fact that most sellers on ebay are not thieves. Back in 2003, you absolutely had no comeback when a seller just kept your money & sent nothing, but these days the power is with you as the buyer.
I hope you didn't let a seller string you along for months with promises. If so, in future always open a case against a seller very soon after things go wrong or soon after an item fails to turn up.

As you are aware if anyone, buyer or seller breaks the feedback rules ebay set, it is removed
Same as if a seller (stupidly) leaves a green tick with a neg comment, it will be removed
If a buyer mentions disputes, ebay stepping in etc, it will be removed
People who do not want their feedback being removed needs to follow the rules and for the most part the feedback will stay (that being said, there are a few 'special' people who can seem to get negs remove for zero reason at all
It is something you will need to take up with eBay if you dislike it/don't agree with it, nobody here makes the rules and just because people point out the rules does not mean we agree with them
