Dress was advertised as BNWT but is not new and has been used and has stains

I purchased a dress advertised as BNWT. The dress arrived and I can see that the tags have been re-attached. The lining of the dress has large yellow stains to both underarm pits, and another large yellow stain to the front of the lining. Clearly the dress has been worn and is not new. I paid $60 + postage for the dress. I do like the dress and I would like to keep it and try to remove the stains myself. But it is not BNWT it is used and so I'd like to know what partial refund amount is reasonable for me to ask for? I was thinking one third of the BNWT price, so $20 refund as the dress is used. Does $20 seem a reasonable amount?

I thought the item was the most recent negative fb left by the OP, but it is not a dress and is listed as pre-owned (and the price is not right either), so I guess the OP has not left fb because it was too late (or maybe she is still trying to reach an agreement with the seller).

If a buyer opens enough disputes, they will eventually become ineligible for the Money Back Guarantee. We've seen it on these forums before.

You've obviously bought a lot on Ebay, so surely by now you would be asking the seller questions and requesting more photographs before purchasing, especially if the listing doesn't show all the aspects you would be concerned about, such as under the arms, or proper pictures of any tags.

You seem determined not to provide the item number, which will only lead others on these forums to conclude that you are trying to take advantage of the seller and will therefore not support you in your endeavour.

The seller might even report you for unethical buyer behaviour, especially if the issue WAS described in the listing OR there were photos. Sometimes sellers do not list a fault, but it is shown in the pictures, which form part of the overall description. It is a well known fact that many buyers rarely bother to look beyond the first photograph, so they should not complain if it turns up exactly as was shown.

Sandypebbles,  it is unfortunate that some sellers are deceitful and leave untruthful negative feedback under the cover of positive feedback.

Bullying me for calling a seller out, and because I myself am a victim of a dishonest seller/s, is not only inappropriate but also harmful to the eBay community at large.

Have a lovely day, I hope you have more positive thoughts in your life.

A nasty little remark such as that is also harmful to the community at large

It says for more about yourself than anything else

YOU are the one who resorted to getting personal

I will see things for what they are, thank you all the same

I wasnt going to post here, but that last comment of yours deserves a reply. Nobody has bullied you here at all. So how about you stop trying to play the victim and grow up.

I'd be very careful throwing around terms like "harmful to the eBay community at large", if I were you.

It only takes one person to read your comments, then look at your feedback... and if they wanted to protect the eBay community, I'd be very surprised if you weren't shoved out the door with a rocket up your bum.

I was going to say that if I had feedback like yours, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night - but wait, there's no possible way I could ever end up with feedback like yours. It just couldn't happen.

Just for the record (and so you don't read more into it than what is actually there)... pointing out that you clearly thrive on playing the victim isnt bullying... pointing out that your comment was out of line is not bullying... pointing out that your feedback sux isn't bullying.

That's all I'm going to say on this topic.

Now stop trying to create an issue out of nothing, and enjoy the rest of the long weekend 😊

leznet-toycollector, one must wonder if certain members are in kahoots with each other given the bullying and harassment subjected on this forum.

eBay does not "shove us out the door" for circumstances beyond our control. I am quite aware of the feedback and the circumstances beyond my control that caused it. You are not aware of those circumstances and so I would ask that you not comment without knowing the facts - facts that are private in nature and have no place on this forum.

Keep in mind that facilitating a bully is just as bad as the member doing the bullying. eBay is supposed to be a safe place to buy and sell, members that facilitate and/or bully others have no place on this forum.

Have a lovely day, I hope you have more positive thoughts in your life. God bless.

Generally speaking, I am wary about advising a buyer about a “reasonable” partial refund amount.

If I received a garment with perspiration stains, and it was sold to me as new, I’d want to return it immediately. I would not be interested in keeping it.

I don’t think that a buyer can make a decision about what is “reasonable” on his/her own. The seller might have a very different view and indeed may think that the garment sold for a low price. The seller may offer you refund upon return, without being interested in giving you a partial refund, and that would be their right. Item condition must then be the same as when it was sent - presumably unworn.

If the garment is nice enough to keep, I do not think a 33% discount is reasonable, particularly not on such a low price. That’s my view. I’m a buyer only.

Re: Dress was advertised as BNWT but is not new and has been used and has stains

Hi countessalmirena, thank you for your reply.

The dress was actually sold as BNWT so I was surprised that there were stains on it and that is was used. Also, the tags had been reattached.

This is an older dress that was released quite a few years ago - the $60 price I paid is the going rate on eBay for this type of dress BNWT from the same brand and vintage.

This same type of dress in used condition sells on eBay for between $25 to $40. Given that, I was thinking that a partial refund of $20 seemed fair. I probably should have included that information in my original post.

Thanks again for your reply, have a lovely day.

What actually is the problem with not being willing to give the item number. ??
