G'day,
I'm having trouble trying to get any actual help on ebay about an item i paid for back in July 2021.
It was a collector's edition for a game that doesn't get sold in Australia so i had to preorder it on ebay. The item was paid for and the seller, who seemed friendly at the time, said he would conta t me closer to the release of the game when the collector's editions would be sent out.
Fast forward to the start of 2022 and I've contacted the supplier twice now about the item I've paid for and haven't, as of yet heard back.
I've tried using the ebay support portal but it's absolutely useless, clearly if it involves an item that was paid for past the 90 day mark then ebay doesn't want to know about it. It's absolutely infuriating to deal with as i can't get help feom anyone or even submit a claim.
Ebay needs to pick up there act, it was never this hard to get help ages ago.

So that is my only, to get a chargeback fee through the bank?
Is there a link within paypal that I'll need to go through or do i just speak with my bank directly?
PayPal can’t help you now.
Get the transaction number, purchase details and have a chat to your bank. I’ve only ever claimed a charge back once, but not for an eBay item. It took approx 8 weeks for the bank to investigate and they gave me a full refund.
Stop communicating with the seller, despite what other members here are telling you. The seller has taken your money and run! It’s been 6mths! While you’re at it, have a look at the sellers feedback. What’s it like? If you could tell us the item number, we can have a look for you.

Sorry for the confusion I'm still in work mode, when i say supplier i mean seller.
From what his account says he is an Australian as well, as for if he'll come good i don't know as I've messaged him twice now.

Hey, that's OK. I'm just thinking that perhaps the seller may be genuine and they have had others send messages wanting to know when their items are coming. Perhaps the seller doesn't know and he is just holding off on answering you until he gets a definite sign from the wholesaler. He may be a bit stressed about it himself.
Perhaps do another contact and say something like .. .. .. "Hi, I know pre-orders can go funny sometimes. Please, if you could just reply to me just to put my mind at ease so I know that you're on the case, that would be a great help. And if you can give me an idea on when you think it may be dispatched then that can help."
And maybe just tell seller that if this comes through good for you, you'll be dealing with him again.
This is woeful advice and should NOT be followed!
If the seller was any way genuine, then the seller would have maintained communication with the buyer all along!
Its 6 mths past now. Face it….. this seller is MIA!!!

G'day,
I looked at my purchase history and all i have is the order number which is 25-07291-13639, i couldn't finde an item number.
As for his feedback it all i could see was feedback he'd given to other sellers, the seller in question who I'm having issue with goes by REMOVED if that helps.

This isn't going to help with your current situation, but it may help to know in the future - ebay actually only allows presales of items if the seller can guarantee postage within 20 days of the purchase date. If you see any listings, for any item at all, where the expected shipping date is longer than that, it increases the chance quite considerably that it's a scam listing that has been deliberately set up so that by the time you realise something is wrong, you have no recourse with the primary dispute channels.
Hopefully your bank will help you recover the payment in this case.

Hey, this is just a last ditch attempt to get some dialogue happening with a seller. Nothing wrong in that! Sometimes some clammed up sellers can be loosened. It's worked for me a few times as well as a friend. What's the harm in trying? OP has nothing to lose. Just 3 mins typing.

Ok, so firstly, I must tell you that you are not allowed to name sellers on these forum boards. A mod will soon edit your post and remove the name.
Your seller has been busy buying in the last month, so they are still around, however, I am only using the eBay app, so I can’t access as much info as I could if I was on a pc. I can’t see SOLD items for example. (And being over 90 days old, it most likely wouldn’t show up anyway).
Try your bank for a charge back. I believe that’s your only option now.

What last ditch effort to get some dialogue with the seller!
The OP ALREADY STATED they have sent off 2 messages that have been ignored! How many more should they send for goodness sake!
If you intend to flood these boards with ‘advice’, at least make it useable advice that is also factual!
Probably wouldn’t hurt you to read up on the eBay T’s and C’s either! (since you’ve been MIA yourself, lately! 😉)

For anyone who may be interested...
The last purchase they received feedback for as a buyer was Homefront: The Revolution, Goliath Edition, for PS4 - purchased on the 29th December.
The last sale they made was on the 3rd of January - Elden Ring collector's edition for PS5, another listing that breaches policy, because the release date for that is currently 25th Feb, 50~ days from now, so they clearly can't guarantee postage within 20 days.
They have no feedback as a seller, possibly because they only ever do "pre-sales" with a long enough timeframe for feedback to time out - though that is conjecture, the Elden Ring sale is the only one that shows up in their completed listings, and they first listed it on the 5th November, which means they listed it nearly 3 months ahead of the scheduled release date.
This info can't really do much though, except confirm the seller was onsite at least as of a week ago, probably more recently as they would be aware their latest $600 listing has sold to someone.

@sullmiester,
Do as janebabe has said. Your only recourse now is if your bank will allow a chargeback. You are almost certainly over the timeframe for a chargeback (as six months is the longest that I've seen in the T&Cs of a card provider), but you'll be dealing with human beings, rather than bot-driven processes, so you'll have a chance to plead your case, particularly in view of the pandemic affecting deliveries and shipments globally.
Be very specific. State when you purchased, identify the transaction number in your credit card statement / account, explain that the seller is no longer replying, it's been six months, and you have no chance of recovery through eBay's MBG or through PayPal Buyer Protection.
In future, as digital*ghost has explained, you should never fall for a pre-order listing that's blatantly breaching eBay's policies. That is like approaching a rough tough man in an alley, noting that he's got knuckle dusters on his hand, and saying, "Hit me! Go on, hit me!"
If a seller has listed a pre-order item whose release date is more than 20 days from the time of purchase, that seller is almost certainly a scammer, as digital*ghost has already commented.
Focus on getting your money back if you can. You could possibly TRY phoning PayPal and asking if an exception can be made given the pandemic situation... but I am not holding out much hope for that. I'm with jane in that a chargeback is probably your only possible recourse at this very late stage.
And... you can report the seller through ReportCyber, as it's an example of online fraud (You have been deceived into sending money or goods to someone online, also known as shopping fraud, romance fraud or investment fraud.)
Follow the prompts, and you'll be selecting "Someone has deceived you into buying or selling products or services online or to donate to a charity" under Money loss or compromised accounts.
Just be aware that this is more for moral satisfaction than financial satisfaction. This is not a likely option to get back your money; it's to (hopefully) ensure that the incident is investigated. As stated on the ReportCyber website, "Your report will be referred to the appropriate police jurisdiction for assessment."
Good luck. Let us know how you get on.
