Hopefully this won't be a problem because in two days the 10 day response claim period will be up and PayPal will reimburse me as I have fulfilled all the buyer protection requirements.
However, I had already filed for the senders details and discovered that the phone remains unanswered and the email address is returned as 'undeliverable' meaning that I have no valid contact details, even though he has my address. Because of this and in the even that PayPal did not honour their protection policy I think the police would send me on my way telling me it's a civil matter.
If that were the case, I would need the seller's address in order to make a civil claim and I duly requested this information from eBay, but they have been adamant that even though the email address the seller gave is shut down and phone goes nowhere, they keep telling me that they are not going to supply me the seller's address, so I can't even send them a snail mail, let alone pursue the matter in a civil court.
I repeat, hopefully all this will be moot when PayPal pay up, nevertheless I find it a very peculiar situation.

There is no reason why you should not get your money back from Paypal and if you don't the chances of you being able to take the seller to court in a civil proceeding are slim to slimmer.
If they are a scammer they will probably be using a hi-jacked account or they will not even be in Australia.
I must say that you are far more trusting with your money than I am, I wouldn't have bought from two out of the trhree sellers you purchased high value goods from.
Ebay are actually precluded from giving you the seller's address as it would be in breach of the data protection laws, if you read their terms and conditions it clearly states that only a phone number and email address can be provided without authorisation unless you are a member of the police force or they are bound by a court order.
It says in this book I am reading that by 2065 80% of women will be overweight.
See what a trendsetter I am?
