Express Post slow

Just a question, when you buy an item advertised with express post, does that not mean it should arrive quicker than regular post (we are talking express zone to express zone)? I don't understand, when I send express it is because I want item to arrive in a timely manner, otherwise I send by regular, registered if I want it tracked (or in ebay case by click and send parcel post with tracking).

Yet I have purchased 2 items using this postal method (no other option given), one arrived 10 days after payment, seller said she had a handling period of 7 days before posting (wtf not mentioned). DON'T USE EXPRESS, USE CLICK AND SEND OR REGISTERED, and I am waiting on one now, why charge the extra FOR EXPRESS, if you are treating it as regular, and it is taking about the same if not slower than regular.

I agree there's nothing more annoying than a seller here, or an online store, that offers and charges express post but then has a long turn around.

I think if you are going to offer express, you should also be willing to post out express parcels the next business day. At the very least you should make your potential customers aware of your handling time, so that they can make an informed decision. Express post is not cheap especially when it's a heavy parcel.

I have no problem paying the extra, but expect the item to arrive in good time, not 7 - 10 days after payment, otherwise what is the point.  I post the same day or next day after I receive payment, depending on time of payment and use click and send, and my items nearly always turn up in good time (the odd one arrives slow, but what can you do).  I don't see the sense of offering express if you don't intend to post asap or you are out of the zone.  If you are outside express zone, offer registered or click and send, at least they are recognised by paypal as a recommended form of postage for protection, and I don't mind waiting for them to arrive if I know what I am paying for.

I would always be wary of any seller who offers express satchel post, if I need something quickly I would contact the seller first and ask if they can post the next day after payment, if they replied in a reasonable time saying yes I would probably trust them and purchase.

If they didn't post strasight away I would just open an item not received dispute and escalate to a claim, if the item arrived after the dispute was closed I would use their time management model to re make the payment;-)

No one said it was.. The thread is about sellers who say they post express, but don't post thinks until 5-7 days after payment, making paying for Express post pointless

Thanks everyone, yes, it is not how long it takes for item to arrive, I accept post can be slow, not sellers fault if item posted in good time but held up by delivery, I sell as well.  I am confused by how a seller offers express post, you pay extra for it, then they hold item for days before posting.  I won and paid for another item on same day as this one I am waiting for, and it arrvied today via normal mail from same area in NSW, but the express one has not even been posted yet, by ebay.  I make sure I post same if not next day depending on when payment is made, I don't believe in holding up buyers, if items are ready to go.  I have asked seller for expected date of postage, if I don't get a reply to my email today some time, I will know.  Thanks again.

Actually AP guarantees express delivery within the express zone, so if item is sent express and does not arrive within the time, AP refunds the postage cost (actually gives you free express satchel).

I appreciate the frustration, however there is something that is VERY importanbt to remember.

There are 2 parts of te delivery time estimation that is in teh eBay Listing.

a) Postage Time.

b) Handling Time

Ebay states an "estimated delivery time" based on the total days of both of these.

The timeframe a) is entered into the listing by the seller - if they state a 3-day handling time, then the minimum that eBay will quote is "4 days".

A LOT of smaller sellers only post a couple of times per week - you need to be very mindful of what the have actually quoted. Assumption that Express Post will arrive next day is a very common mistake made by buyers.
