That is not sound logic - the "everything else I ordered took less time, so this should have too" thing, I mean.

I hear it all the time, and frankly even pre-covid it was silly, when there are so many factors that can affect delivery times, and poor performance of the postal service is rarely the issue - being due to poor performance from the seller is almost never the problem, so feedback (for the seller) about how long something took a postal service is hardly going to be a genuine assessment of the seller's service, since they don't control the postal systems they use, they are just as much at the mercy of them as buyers are, for the most part, since so many buyers blame the seller for long transit times in feedback already - it's not like they include special instructions with packages, like "carry this one to Australia on the slowest dolphin possible" etc - just about every seller sends out packages hoping it gets there ASAP; some sellers use budget postage services so they can provide cheap or "free" postage costs, and they will invariably take longer. But no seller on eBay wants or needs buyers who are antsy about how long a package is taking, especially when they start ranting about how long other packages took and think that's solid evidence for the seller somehow contributing to how long the current package is taking. Thus, they are hardly likely to deliberately do things that increase the liklihood of that happening.

Covid lockdowns and changes to transporting packages don't affect every parcel in the system the same way, eg you get a package sent one day and it just makes it on to the next plane leaving for the right destination, send it one day later and it's stuck in customs for a week or more.  which I know because as a seller, I send hundreds of packages a month rather than buy a few here and there, so the data pool I can look as is much higher than the average buyer's. Just within Australia, when just about all of Aus was in lockdown mode, I had a package being delivered to an address practically in walking distance from me take 3 weeks, while a package to VIC took 3 days. Most postal systems have improved since those days, but so many things along the way can cause delays, and consistency is still a problem - shipping to the US from here can be as quick as 10 days, but up to 6 weeks, had one earlier this year that took 3 months, all using the same postal service.

As for eBay extending the time for FB, covid has been a thing for around 18 months. Delivery issues and delays have been a thing for around that time. If eBay had any intention of making changes to the FB timeframe, they would likely have done it a couple of months ago when they extended the character limit.

Feedback is, by and large, not as important (to eBay or in general) as some people seem to think, and is more a byproduct to transactions than an integral component.

Yes, I agree with you, how do we leave feedback after waiting an unreasonable time?

My parcel took 10 WEEKS to arrive!! I paid for it on 20 April 2021 and it finally arrived 25 June. BTW, it arrived by “Air mail” - slow plane? Covid shouldn’t be blamed, every other thing I purchased in late April arrived within 1 - 4 weeks.

Also, I would think feedback would still be allowed 4 days after the parcel arrived, but feedback time is so short that I’ve been excluded from leaving it.

One “good” thing - the seller was able to leave EXCELLENT feedback for me. They only waited 10 minutes (seconds?) for me to pay, not 10 weeks, but I was able to reply and let them know how I feel.

WHY is there a limit on time to leave feedback? While Covid is often a valid excuse and given that it took nearly 3 months for an item to arrive, I think 6 months is more reasonable timeframe for feedback.

Hi there chegib8031 . Good post too. Hey, I hear you! It actually used to be 90 days, 3 months but more than 10 years ago, maybe 15 give-or-take, it was reduced to 60 days, 2 months! Now with the world the way it is and more and more people using economy-mail it makes perfect sense to restore it to 3 months. And your suggestion of 6 months wouldn't be an unworthy consideration either. There are situations where the whole thing can be stretched out to that long.

BTW: I've always been a big supporter of rewarding good sellers with good feedback. Quite a few of them include a little slip that says ... ....   "We rely on feedback, please don't forget to leave positive feedback for us" etc.. I just remembered that one seller had a slip that could be used as a book mark. Great idea too.
