That'll get everyone in here, lol!!
So I just left feedback for an item, but couldn't leave a rating for communication. When I hovered over the 'why can't I leave a rating' it said we noticed there was no communication between you and the seller. Is it a new thing they've brought in like the free postage blockout, and will it affect the sellers rating because I couldn't leave anything?

This happens when the seller has a 0-1 day handling time, posts within that time-frame and uploads tracking information to eBay, plus there has to be no direct messages on eBay between you and the seller for two weeks prior to the transaction up until FB was left.
Occasionally, when I've gone to rate DSRs, communication has been blocked when this criteria has not been met.

It has been like that for quite sometime; it was introduced because some buyers thought that because there was no direct communication between them and seller they do not deserve 5 stars and would leave3. If seller puts all relevant info in the listing, then marks item as posted, enters the tracking number (if there is one), clicks on "notify the recipient" if sending by C&S, there is no need for messaging; the seller has effectively communicated all that needed to be communicated, and therefore deserves 5 stars. 🙂

See, still learning after all these years. 🙂 I always mark 5 stars for communication. I buy, pay instantly, they mark it as sent within hours and it turns up in less than a week. Perfect as far as I'm concerned. :8}

ebay don't want buyers and sellers talking to each other, but what are told when we contact ebay about an item - work it out with the seller:^O

It is actually the most recent of the ebay "innovations" to restrict the feedback that buyers can leave. The greying out of the posting stars when Free Post is used was the first and as soon as we got used to that they added the Communication grey out.
As far as I am concerned it is not a success....I have several times been prevented from ticking the stars when I have definitely has communications with the seller.
