This would be the best place to find out: http://www.customs.gov.au/faq/DutyGST.asp#Q86
(There's some links there to other online info that can help you calculate what will be payable).

Any goods that exceed $1000 (including postage) are subject to import fees and duties, no matter what they are.

You do pay duties and GST on the shipping component of a parcel....read the Customs website.

You also have the problem of paying a great deal of money to return the item by fully trackable post with proof of delivery and if it contains a lithium battery you can only use a specialist courier, if it is not as described. Both options could prove very expensive as could the fact it may not work without extra equipment if it runs on 110v.
It says in this book I am reading that by 2065 80% of women will be overweight.
See what a trendsetter I am?
