I recently purchased an item from america using the global shipping program, took 2 months to arrive to australia, when i noticed it had been updated to delivered at 2.00am friday on my ebay purchases page. There was no item. I went to australia post gave them all 3 tracking numbers provided. Auspost cannot use any of them, opened paypal case. decided in sellers favor because says delivered on ebay system.
heres my problem, EBAY, PAYPAL or the seller cannot tell me who delivered the item in australia (auspost, dhl, toll etc)
so i cannot even see if it waiting at a depot for collection or was delivered to wrong adress. Now this prick in america got to keep my 140$ and highly likely that the item will get returned to him because i cant chase it up!!!
Even when i complained again to paypal, they said they cant even use the tracking numbers provided by pitney-bowes ummm so how can you approve in there favor???? if you cant use the tracking number and cant tell me who delivered the item???
What a Scam
You have lost my business ebay!!!!!

No, the same thing happened to me.
I paid US$39.11 for priority shipping from the USA on a parcel. It took over a month to arrive! The parcel said "delivered" long before it actually arrived (This means it has been delivered to the shipping agent, not the buyer).
This is the best part, even though i paid US$39.11 for Priority, i received a parcel delivered via ECONOMY costing US$10.17 (it stated this clearly on the parcel). Thats a US$28.93 difference (and if you convert this to Australian currency thats almost $45 overcharged).
Also the parcel was heavily damaged and the seller simply said "not my problem, i dont have to cover things sent through global shipping!" ... The reason it was damaged is because when i checked the tracking, the item was sent to FIVE different states within America (even Honolulu) before arriving in Australia. So obviously it was trashed by the time i got it, tracking information said it was sent so Paypal refused to cover my massive loss (The item was US$122.50 plus US$39.11 postage, thats well over AU$200).
I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THE GLOBAL SHIPPING COMPANY AGAIN, ITS A RIP OFF, THEY DESTROY YOUR ITEMS AND THE ITEMS ARE NOT COVERED. BE WARNED EBAYERS.

If your item arrived damaged you just open a paypal dispute, escalate to a claim as soon as the system allows and get your money back.
You do not contact the seller.
If you don't use the system correctly how do you expect to get a refund

Not everything is handed to Australia Post....only the smaller items are sent from FedEx as an eParcel with the sender as FedEx.
Larger parcels are delivered by FedEx themselves unless it is to an area where they do not deliver and then it is off loaded to another courier company.

GSP is a total scam and an unholy alliance between eBay and the service provider (PitneyBowes and sidekicks WNDirect in the UK). I purchased an item, seller shipped it via gsp and provided a tracking number. The product never arrived, this was corroborated by the online tracking info. Contacted seller who answered 'Not my problem, I can prove it was received at the GSP hub and that's where my liability ends, take it up with eBay'. Filed a dispute with EBay, to my immense surprise it was turned down with a claim that seller provided proof of delivery. If you want to appeal you need to do so by phone so I spent 15 minutes explaining things to a young lady in India, going by her accent. Mercifully she agreed to check the online tracking number and ruled in my favor. What I don't like about this system -apart from the fact that it's utter **bleep** in getting packages to their destination- is that when you have a dispute between seller and buyer, at least Ebay or Paypal are somewhat independent parties. But now Ebay becomes an interested party as they cannot recoup the failed transaction with the seller. I got the feeling they have a policy of turning down initial claims, only to relent if the customer goes through the effort of launching an appeal. Lesson learned: I'll never purchase anything shipped via the GSP program again.

Then ring FedEx themselves.
If you have searched everywhere for the parcel then the obvious thing to do is ask the company that delivered it.
You should have done that as soon as you found it was missing instead of wasting time opening a paypal dispute which was always going to be closed immediately as the tracking showed that it had been delivered.

I know this is a very old thread, but it comes up in google search in the top 3 listings for tracking via GSP and I figured others like myself may be reading them for advice.
Only recently did I get a website link provided to me that allowed me to track items via the GSP without the usual drama that still exists with this program now 2 years later, eBay don't care to fix the issues as it makes them a fortune.
It's still a rubbish program that is more expensive than USPS and Royal Mail for smaller items and much slower. Sadly, I have found by experience that Pitney Bowes actually repacks items to make them smaller which has resulted in 2 damaged items that were well packed by the seller when sent to Kentucky.
How do I know?
The seller sent me pictures they had taken when sent to Kentucky after I told them how they arrived broken and they weren't the same boxes nor packing. The seller knew how scarce and valuable these parts were for cars restoration purposes and didn't want to see something like that damaged.
Nearly all the packaging by the seller to protect the parts had been removed (each part bubble wrapped in its own box with nuggets also and then overpacked into larger box filled with foam nuggets) and then put into a single box with virtually no protection except a very thin layer of bubblewrap on each that allowed the 2 parts to move inside against each other. As one part was heavy and solid, the other light and fragile, the result was that both the extremely hard to find 44 year old car interior items were broken in transit due to the fragile item being broken by the heavy item and the heavy item having no protection got so badly handled it broke the box in a few places and was useless also.
Luckily eBay refunded once I provided the before and after photos, but not until quite a bit of drama and time, not to mention the disappointment of finding these parts in such good condition with the sad result on arrival.
Another item I had sent to me in South Australia actually got sent to South Africa by Pitney Bowes and was last tracked in Botswana. Ebay made me wait over 3 months for a refund continually telling me to wait and see if it moved from South Africa. The issue is that Paypal would have refunded if I had taken it up with them first, but because if you close a INR with eBay, Paypal won't help and then nor will eBay. Lesson learnt the long hard way and I bought the same item on Amazon cheaper and delivered in 9 days from USA.
Anyway, I digress. If anyone has tracking issues please try:
cheers!

Just wanted to add that having gone through this experience this website http://parcelsapp.com/en/tracking was the only one that allowed me to see the parcel moving to FedEx.
