Hi sent this message to a UK seller last year .. .. .. .. .. ..

Hi, I am interested in a record from your selection. The problem is that the postage - GBP 12.90 (approx. AU $22.03) is 3 times the normal amount to post a 45 to Australia by AirMail. Is it possible please that you can change the postage to just normal AirMail. I have a secure mail post office box too. Cheers

Ebay will only ship tracked and insured

And after some back and forth with polite messages both way. me trying to tell seller that she is losing business this way. I finally got this reply  .. .. .. ..

Hi,

I'm the sort of person that respects the agreement I have between Ebay and myself. I wouldn't ask others to manipulate their agreement for my own benefit. I guess I'm just respectful and trustworthy, perhaps to my own financial detriment.

I'd like to add that the seller has been cordial all the way though. But  .. .. .. .. .. .. .. . Are we now in some kind or Orwellian nightmare ??????????

The thing is that sellers are now becoming robotic and do not seem to think outside the created tunnel of programmed thinking. Collectors are being held to ransom almost. Pay triple postage or don't bother applying.

And to those Ptney Bowes defenders her that come to the rescue of PB for whatever reason.  we are taling about small and medium size collectors items that are the majority of the items that are sold on ebay.

The above gives an example of the impossibility of trying to get an item listed at a cheaper price. And if some folks think that's isolated then I can give another one.

The GSP is the Global Shipping Program.  It is not a company, so no, they won't read any of it.

The Program is run by a company called Pitney Bowes and they won't read any of it either.

edit:   They won't ship anything secondhand that has had fuel in the tank, I believe.

Think yourself very lucky indeed.....you were notified that the item would not be shipped and you will get your money back automatically.

In the early days of the GSP the first you ever knew that the item was not going to arrive was when you started a dispute for item not received.  Once it was established that Pitney Bowes had not shipped it you then had to fight for your refund.

Things have certainly improved since those times.

Hi gazcam66, I'm very sorry to hear of your time having been wasted. The fact that you have made preparations to get the item, were waiting in anticipation and then it all gets turned to dust just shows that there today is a lack of respect for the buyer and his / her rights.

Padi, who is a member here also mentioned an electric guitar being confliscated some time back only to be seen selling on a Pitney Bowes-related site / selling service some time later.

There are certain cleansing agents that can take away any residue from petrol tanks. A motor bike enthusiast can get a tank sent via USPS or other shipping companies no problem! It seems that Pitney Bowes just falls flat on its butt when clumsily attempting to portray itself as a service. More like what a scam-op would act like.

Some things may have changed Lyndal but many things have not.The problem is that people are not always notified that PB has confliscated their item until some time later. They then have wasted time waiting for nothing.
