Hi - I have purchased an expensive video camera from a seller and it arrived a few days ago. To my surprise and frustration, it did not come with a power adaptor/cord. I checked the original listing and the seller did have a section that stated exactly the items that came in the box but did not say these are the ONLY items that come with the camera. Am I wrong to feel that something crucial to the operation of the camera - the thing that provides the power to operate it and charge the battery (battery is charged attached to camera) should not be explicitly noted in the listing if it is to be missing from the package?
The full listing read:
Used Sony X70 Camcorder in full working order.

Also, I live very remote and cannot just go to a store to purchase a new charger on the fly. I am currently trying to arrange a replacement in the interim, but that information really is beside the point.
Respectfully, $50 is $50 and actually hurts more after a 2k purchase as I'm not exactly rolling in cash.
Absolutely. I don't find $50 to be small change at all. I thnk of myself as an average person, reasonably off, but I work hard for my money. $5 I might consider small change but not $50.
I believe Amazon is coming to Aust in the not too distant future. Then there is Catch of the day that has some bargain buys-though not necessarily for what you want when you want it. But ebay for big purchases-be very, very wary. I've a friend who has had 2 bad experiences with SLR cameras, both brand new. One was listed as being sold in Sydney but was not working on arrival and had to be sent overseas for repair at her expense! She wasn't happy.

You've said that they stated exactly what was included so how can it be misleading not to include something that was never in the listing?
If you're spending that sort of money on something on ebay you should have done some homework and known what's usually included with a new one, then asked about anything that wasn't on the list.

if i was selling this item, id put everything to do with the camera on the kitchen table. then say to myself, if i bought this, would i be able to use it as is with what i'm seeing here?
if somethings missing thats required....like the cable to charge the battery.....if i havent got it or its missing, then i'd mention it in the advert.
selling something in great condition that cant be used as is, just asks for trouble.

I think it's reasonable to assume a power cord comes with a brand new one.
I think it's reasonable to assume a power cord comes with a used one...if it's not explicitly stated otherwise, that is.

i really hope you get a full refund.
i'm not sure but had the seller been really dodgy could he not have just sent a box of camera carp with full tracking.
the carp would have been delivered showing delivery via auspost.
so cutting out a non delivery, then you would be stuck trying to prove what you recieved was carp and not a camera.
then your only option would be not as described, also not easy to proove.
these days buying anything used on ebay without going and seeing it first hand is really fraught with danger in my view.
ebay was once a great place to sell your used items after upgrading but the shonky sellers have moved in.
