Hi,has any members had problems with the Global Shipping program. It would seem that another party has been added just to double our chances of a mistake. The contract is between buyer and seller on the ebay site and it is hard enough to recieve an item without damage and in a reasonable time without it being duplicated in the shipping process.Unable to contact the global Shipping Co so where do we get any help.

Yes, it is not surprising. What is surprising is that nothing has been done about it and if anything it got worse (more and more sellers using it). 😞

I have sometimes had friends in the US collect parcels for me and then send them on to me, but I decided that I didn't want to trespass on their good nature too much. (Especially since it was more than the occasional parcel. No friend is going to be happy with that!)
The solution for me was to have a Comgateway account for US purchases. For the number of purchases I have, it's well worth it.

Oh yeah, totally agree. That's why I wonder sometimes if we're in some kind of Orwellian 1984 type of state. How has this been allowed to get to the horrid state that it is in now? I guess Amazon must be loving it though. Some members are now going there.

I haven't heard of Comgateway countessalmirena . Thanks for that info. I will have a look into this to see if this may help me.

I am now often looking at Etsy for vintage items. 🙂 For what I like to collect Etsy is better than Amazon. While shipping from the USA can still be expensive if they don't use First Class, at least shipping from the UK is affordable (like it used to be on eBay).
Yesterday I saw a small, light item on eBay, probably about 200 grams. The price of the item was $31, shipping was $89. Yeah, sure. why not say "Doesn't post to Australia"? It is the same and saves potential buyers time.
The problem is that sellers don't realize how bad (and expensive) it is as eBay only told them about the positive sides, like "you are protected from neutral and negative feedback", which is really weird, but certainly attractive to sellers: https://www.ebay.com/help/global-shipping-program/default/global-shipping-program?id=4646 (I had already posted this link.)
The first step would be to better inform sellers about how unhappy buyers are etc. It is difficult though because they think they have to protect themselves from us (the buyers) through the GSP - because that's what eBay told them.

Ah, remember when Ebay was so much better, before all the rules and add-on charges. no, i cant either my memorys not that good LOL
what i think is online shopping has become huge, and with it comes all the 'i gotta get me some of that' companys.
with the increase of parcel movements prices should be falling, but, no they are not. there are just more companys wanting a share.
i get why sellers use the GSP, its easy. easy allways wins.
even when it means the seller loses sales, even after its explained using GSP makes selling outside the sellers own country not worth it to buyers most of the time. buyers will look for the lowest price for an item including postage.
the seller may have the lowest item price but then the GSP makes his overall price higher than another seller doing it without GSP.
who ya rekon gets the sale?
every time someone comes up with an idea, once that idea takes off and becomes huge, they start wanting to make more and more money out of it. look at ebay, its so clogged up with advertising these days! greed.
everything you look at online has a ton of pop ups and advertising slowing the page down.
the tricky ones when you try to close them open another page! grrr

David, for heaven's sake, download an adblocker for your browser.
They're free and will move your pages along a lot faster.
I don't see any ads at all.

I do not sell internationally, as probably many GSP using sellers wouldn't. So they are not necessarily missing out on sales.
If the GSP was introduced here, I would opt-in, and that would be the ONLY way I would sell internationally. The hassles of selling internationally, especially when eBay actively encourages shoplifting, more than offsets any possible loss of sales.
Horses for courses.
