My husband was logged into by ebay account where he began the process of puchasing a product. He was interupted and logged back into ebay on his own account where he purchased the same item from the same seller. I have had an email from the seller saying that he has cancelled the transaction, but noted that an unpaid item has been recorded against my account. Is there anyway of having this removed, as we purchased the same item, it was just done so in a different ebay account. Thanks.

An unpaid item case can only be opened 4 days after purchase - then it takes another 4 days before it is closed.
8 Days in all.
Did you ask for the transaction to be cancelled once you realised what had occurred.??????

If the items were bought on 2 different accounts then you should pay for both of them.
You are responsible for any activity on your account.
Which transaction has the seller cancelled? If you received the email to your account that means that the seller opened an Unpaid Item dispute in order to get their fees refunded. When you did not respond and pay for the item the seller CLOSED the dispute and issued a strike...they did not cancel it.

Actually this is sounding a bit strange.
A seller cannot cancel a transaction without notifying you that is what they want to do.
They have to supply a reason - something along the lines of buyer changed their mind - or somesuch.
You have to answer the cancel transaction with either a yes or no.
Have you done this.???????

This is why the thing sounds dodgy.
Seller cannot just cancel.
We don't know what the timeframe is for the tranaction.

Agreed, there's definitely some pertinent information that's not yet been shared here (I'm not suggesting it's been withheld deliberately though).
OP, can you please take us through it step by step? What exactly happened, the time frame, what communications you/hubby had with the seller, etc...?
If you want some helpful advice you need to help us to help you, by providing us with a clearer picture of what's happened.
Btw, welcome to the eBay discussion boards.

I am inclined to think that the OP is a newbi who has used the wrong terminology.
If she received a message from the seller mentioning that she had a stike on her account I think the seller has closed a dispute rather than done a cancellation.
OP, have you had a message telling you that the seller opened a dispute for non payment? And did you answer it or ignore it?

It would appear from the information provided your husband purchased two identical items from a seller using two different ID,s. If this occured the seller would have been charged two lots of commision by ebay even if you only paid for one item. In my case ebay fees amount to over 15 % of item cost, so on two transactions the seller would have been charged around 30% of the item value in fees. In order to recieve a refund of one lot of fees, the seller would need to open an unpaid item case. Ebay would have notified you of this and given you 4 days minimum to resolve the problem. After 4 days the seller can close the case and recieve a refund for ebay commisions already paid and the buyer recieves a "strike" recorded against thier account which can affect thier ability to buy from some sellers.
The best way to have resolved this would have been to contact the seller once the mistake was realised. They could then send you a cancellation request using the optional reason of " buyer purchased the item in error or has changed their mind". This would mean the seller should not have a defect recorded against thier account. ( which could cause them problems including possible selling restrictions if enough defects are recorded )
This is the correct process ebay have in place. Unfortunately many people are not aware of all of these "ins and outs" of ebay and if the correct processes are not followed accounts can be damaged ( both for buyers and sellers ). In this case the seller appears to have followed the correct procedures. The only option you have is to contact ebay Customer Support by phone and explain the situation. If you are new to ebay you may recieve some help, but its a bit of a long shot. Good Luck
