Just curious about other peoples opinion.
I have watched something get relisted over and over again for the last 18 months for the same price.
This item wil never ever sell at the price they want for it.....it even got to the point where I emailed them to give them the low down on what items sell for in that category, with comparison items.
Got a very pleasant email back saying thank you - but there is the item again for the same price, and that price means serious listing fees.
I really feel for this seller - they are wasting money yet they are still on the ebay merry go round....should there be a limit?

Normally when a seller is found to be shill bidding posters here can't wait to tell everyone that they reported the shilling seller but I am yet to see anyone claiming to report anyone on this thread for shill bidding.
Is that because no one has reported them or because no one wants to admit to reporting them?
It does come across as favouring a regular poster whereas the annihilation of anyone else (doing the same) would be ruthless.
All advice and opinion given by that person has been rendered unreliable at best.

I never boast about reporting anybody, and I rarely do so.
Love your sig bump.

A number of my posts on this forum have been reported for the activity described.
All advice and opinion given by that person has been rendered unreliable at best.
This is untrue. I see no relation between what I did and my advice suddenly becoming unreliable. I'm nowhere near as knowledgable as the regulars anyway but do occasionally provide some good advice, even if it's just to back up a previous poster or add something similar. That has no bearing on what I did. Two separate things.

Agreed.
Not related to shill bidding, but I was reported the other day, and I was totally bummed about it. Not because I was told not to do it again, but because I wasn't cut any slack by whomever reported me.
I am new to the boards, came here for some advice, and totally enjoyed reading old posts, and seeing how much the "regulars" knew about every situation (well so it seemed) so I kept coming back for a few minutes each day. I then shared a link (actually an item number) to a posting I found amusing, and bang, reported.
Why was I in violation? Apparently I couldn't share item numbers - ok, sorry, a simple "that's not allowed" would have sufficed, and because the listing I shared had violations in it.
I received a violation, because a seller had violations. lol. Ok then.
As I said, I wasn't bummed because I was warned. More just because I felt like I was just a "newbie" so "someone" felt the need to show their muscle.
All that has done, to me and others I'm sure, is made me only now silently read the threads to get answers I need, without actually wanting to participate.
Oh well. Such is life.

oops, sorry. I was saying "agreed" to i-once-was-bump about the regular posters being reported.

Don't take it to heart arnl7178, there are some notorious BP's out there who do it for fun (and lack of anything productive to add themselves), then there are some who honestly think it is their job to report. I am like Dave, I don't report anyone, can't see the point. If it is an abusive post, then someone else will report for sure, if it is a numpty post, I like the thought that everyone can keep reading it and see the numpty for what they are. But then that's just me.

I think that most of the reports on the boards are done by trolls who enjoy it when posts disappear and the discussion then makes no sense what so ever. Yes it is stupid not to be able to post item numbers when giving the item title is fine. It is quite possible that the seller in question also looked and did not want the issue to be brought to attention, again.

Don't agree - I think a few regular posters do report others posts - I do, for one.
I have reported the posts of some pretty sick and twisted individuals that have posted on the boards from time to time.
I have also, and will continue to, report posts where other posters have egged on an OP to neg a seller without having all the facts X-(X-(X-(

I report posts if they are going to get the poster into trouble, if they give out personal information like their email address or phone number for instance, that is for their own protection.
If a newbie poster gives a seller id or item number then usually one of the regulars will tell them to self report before one of the button pushers reports it.
Other than that I rarely report posts, if I disagree with what somebody posts then reporting their posts just makes any response I have made redundant so what would be the point.

I am not talking about posts being reported but posters admitting to shill bidding being reported.
Usually if any seller is shown to shill bidding then they are reported by some of the regular posters.
This is not a bit of hot headed comment being reported by trolls, this is a seller openly admitting they shill bid and what is worse they then tried to make excuses for the shill bidding.
This is not about button pushers or trolls, it is about treating sellers equally.
