Customs charges are payable on items costing $1000 and over.
It is not a good idea to buy electronic goods from overseas - if there is anything wrong with the player you will be required to return it to the seller by trackable post (which will cost a fair bit) before receiving a refund from PayPal.
Manufacturers warranties do not apply to goods sold on eBay unless the seller is an authorised dealer or reseller.
Much safer to pay a bit extra and purchase from a real local store where you get a real warranty and have a real place to return to in case of any problems.
