How to sort out a dispute as a guest

I bought an item whilst logged in as a guest. The seller hasn't sent the item and the estimated delivery date has passed. I have tried emailing the seller but haven't received a response. Can anyone give me some suggestions as to what to do next please? Thanks

Sign up as a member of Paypal using the same user ID and password as before, then lodge an item Not Received dispute. You can't lodge a dispute as a guest, only as a full member. It costs nothing at all to join.

Thanks. When I was logged on as a guest I didn't create a log on or password. eBay just created the user ID. How do I find out the details required to use them for PayPal?

To be honest, I'm really not 100% sure about that so I suggest that you sign on to Paypal at www.paypal.com.au and go to their help section where you will be given their toll-free phone number, which you can then use to call them and express your concerns. I'm sure they'll let you know exactly what you need to do to resolve this issue, but don't wait too long, as you only have 45 days from the date of purchase in which to lodge a dispute. Good luck. ๐Ÿ™‚

How did you pay? If you paid using Paypal as a guest then you need to open a Paypal account using the same email address which you used when you made the payment. Once you do that the payment should show in your Paypal account and you can open a dispute from there. If you paid by bank deposit or moneyorder you have no buyer protection so cannot do anything, if you paid direct with a credit card then contact your bank re a chargeback.

PJ, are you suggesting that even if the OP paid for his item via credit card as a Paypal guest, if he then joins Paypal and tries to make a claim on that particular transaction, that there is no restrospectivity and that he still won't be covered by any form of Buyer Protection?

I couldn't be ar$ed to go through reams of Paypal's T&Cs at this time of the morning but if that's the case, it sounds like a very nice little earner for Paypal to me. It also essentially means that there's absolutely no point signing up with Paypal, and that the OP is better off simply contacting his own FI regarding a credit card chargeback instead.

That's what I thought Foxy, but when PJ said to contact the bank for a chargeback, even though the payment was almost certainly made via credit card through Paypal, it just sounded a bit ambiguous, so I just wanted to make sure, that's all. ๐Ÿ˜‰
