I increased my max bid by $10 and it was set in, but at the end of the auction my bid had decreased?

What happened to my max bid. I lost out because my new max bid some how vanished. It was set it, the screen said i had increased my max bid so how the hell was i outbid by less then my max bid

Next time I am bidding from one of my favourite sellers I will experiment again.

I never use the one click feature as I always enter my highest bid....if it is too low then so be it....I don't win.  It is a long time since I played with the feature.

I use Goofbid, ebay sniper.   Best way to bid. no one else knows you are going to bid on that item, as your bid doesn't go on til 5secs to go  good for things that finish late or overseas.  you just add the item number, the highest price you would bid, and thats it. sometimes you are lucky to win at a cheaper price. If the bidding goes over my highest bid, theres always another day.

I much prefer to do my own sniping thanks.   I have always done so and can get my snipe down to 3 seconds, although I usually do it at 5 seconds.

your maximum bid was rejected by the seller prior to auction end

thats doesn't make much sense, why would it be rejected when my previous bid was not?

@oceanic_flyer thanks but i do use auction stealer to snipe but sometimes i like the thrill of a live bid & also manage to get it down to the last seconds like lyndal1838. (not to mention theres a limit of 3 free snipes per week on auction stealer lol) I will checkout Goofbid though 🙂

Just a guess here but a seller can end an auction to sell to the highest bidder but I think it can only be done within a certain timeframe (not 100% sure of the timeframe bit).

It is possible that the seller was not sure of the procedure to do this so just cancelled your bid to allow the then highest bidder to win.

And I stress....this is just a guess.

according to this> ending a listing early it is possible. However i doubt a seller would want to end an auction early in the last minutes , especially since theres potential for higher bids. The only circumstances i would do that if i were selling, is maybe if the buyer has 0 fb or in the old days, alot of negs for non payment.

As I said, it was just a guess.  Without seeing the auction bidding there is no way of really knowing what happened.

yes we will never know, i certainly will be keeping an eye out for the confirm bug, if indeed there is one, or if it was just me imagining it because i was caught up in a bid frenzy 😉
