I'm being sent unpleasant emails directly from a seller, not thru eBay

I have received an unpleasant email from a seller because I left a negative feedback. I bought a shirt, followed the sizes and have bought extra large ladies shirts from lots of sellers with no issues. These ones are small. I bought off this seller based on the description on the sale stating returns. I contacted seller stating my issue and could I return. He replied with no I don't exchange "seasonal" items, not stated in the description on the listing but offered the purchase of another for a couple of dollars less. So I left a negative feedback. Now he's sending me emails saying I'm inconsiderate directly to my email address, bypassing eBay.

Re: I'm being sent unpleasant emails directly from a seller, not thru eBay

I think that the OPs communication style is partially the problem

Its a small fit for an XL does not equal the measurements are incorrect

OP posts:  "I bought off this seller based on the description on the sale stating returns"

Why would OP buy from seller based on returns policy, when not as described are covered regardless of returns policies?

I reckon cause they thought they could return it if it didn't fit and they actually didn't check the sellers full returns policy on the post and other details page, which is conditional.

So this seller gets a neg because the item was smaller than expected, yet another seller gets a positive for something smaller than expected. Did you want an exchange or refund on that item?

I think you'll find that most places don't do exchanges or returns on Christmas items. Check the price labels at K-Mart or Big W, most will say no returns. Why should someone on eBay be any different? His return policy clearly states that returns are only accepted for item not as described, expired or defective.

Did you get a tape measure out and check that your measurements matched the measurements in the listing? Could you have gained some weight and not realised? Not all sizes are the same. Some things I am a size 8, others I need a 10 or 12. One reason I would never buy clothing online.

Sorry, but I really don't think this falls into the not as described category, especially as no-one else who's left feedback for that item seems to have any issues.

I thought that all business had to accept a return unless it is an item that cannot be returned for sanitory reasons.

No that is not correct,

Unless you advertise change of mind as an acceptable reason for return, a buyer can only return for damage, not as described etc.

If you want to try stuff on, you go to a BM store.

Which neck style did you choose?

The size ranges from 50cm to 61cm depending on the neck style.

Also what does your tshirt measure from underarm to underarm?
