I'm being spammed by a seller

Has anyone else had this problem? I bought an item from a seller on eBay and now I'm getting emails on my private email address every day saying I've added an item to my cart and to complete my order. How did they get my private email address? They also have my silent phone number, my address and full name displayed on the spam.
I've rang them twice to stop and to delete my records but they keep coming.
They must be collecting eBay members' details......but my private email address????

By putting an item in your cart and/or buying an item you are now in a transaction with the seller and they can request your details from ebay.  You would also receive their details from ebay along with the advice that the seller has done this.

Is it the one you use in PayPal?

Did you click on any links?

Report the seller to eBay as they are not allowed to send promotional material without your consent.

Are you certain you do not have an unpaid item in your cart and this is what the messages are about ?

Re: I'm being spammed by a seller

The spamming is going to my private email address. I've only ever bought from them on eBay. I've just received an email saying it was promotional and that they sold hundreds of items by doing this. They have an unsubscribe button but I have never visited their website and definitely have never subscribed to them. I'm not going to click on a button labeled "unsubscribe" when I don't know them. I could be giving them access to my computer for all I know.

Because I've only ever bought one item off them through eBay, they must be keeping customer details. But my private email address???

Yes, I bought an item off them on eBay with PayPal. It was just a kitchen item and as I'm normally into gardening, I'm not interested in what else they have for sale. So, no, I didn't click on anything else because I'm just not into what they have for sale.

Hi lyndal, I bought from them once on eBay.
Now they are saying I've put something in a cart on their business site. I have never been to their business site.
Their email to me has all my details which they must be collecting from eBay buyers. I'm getting one or two emails a day giving me quotes on items I'm supposedly placing in a cart.

Appears that your account could have been hacked, because someone must be doing it if you're not.

Re: I'm being spammed by a seller

One thing about it, even if you or someone else placed something in a cart, it means nothing. You are under no onbligation to buy at all.

I often place things in carts on some sites, just to find out the postage costs.

Once something is placed in a cart though-or even if it isn't, even if you just work on a project (think vistaprint here), they will bombard you with special deals to try to entice you to come back, so i think they can pick up a lot of tracking details just from the fact you log onto their site.

You say you have never logged on. Is there anyone else in your house who may have clicked one of their links?

But even if they had, you definitely do not have to complete any order.

If your PayPal address is your personal email addy, then that's how they got your email addy. It is provided when you use PayPal.
