I need some advice on retracting a bid.

I bid on a pair of shoes and have just today realized that I made mistake converting the size.  They won't fit!  The auction ends in about twenty hours and I am the only bidder.  I have contacted the seller and apologized for my error but the seller says there is nothing they can do to cancel my bid and the only way to cancel is via the retraction form.

The problem is that my reason for canceling doesn't fall into either of the categories listed on the retraction form.

Isn't there any other way to put a stop on the sale?

I do understand how annoying this would be from the seller's point of view and I can't apologize enough for that however, I made a genuine mistake.  Surely there is some way to fix it?

Can anyone help, please?

I don't think anyone should be acccusing the seller of lying going on the information given in the OP, the seller might not know how to cancel a bid or they might not know that they can cancel a bid.

I think it best to save the tar and feathers for when there is very strong proof.

Re: I need some advice on retracting a bid.

The seller is not obligated to cancel the bid any way. It was the buyers error and their responsiblity to fix it.

A seller cannot end a live auction with less than 12 hours to go

A little more information may help to get better advice, as I'm not sure why you would need to cancel a purchase to start again? i.e I'm not sure if you mean that you have purchased one item, but want to cancel it and purchase something different from the same seller, or something else. Has the seller replied to your request to cancel the transaction at all?

For general information, you are not able to cancel an order after committing to purchase - the transaction can be cancelled, but it has to be initiated by the seller and they're not actually obliged to cancel it, and depending on circumstances, some will actually open a non-paying buyer dispute to regain the fees paid on the sale.

If the seller agrees to cancel, you will receive a message and you have to click to agree to cancel so that the transaction is actually cancelled).

Re: I need some advice on retracting a bid.

maureen your seller is in the US (California actually) so in a different time zone and probably a different day.

You only bought the items yesterday afternoon our time so don't panic just yet.

Oh I should say I am basing that on the 3 items you purchased yesterday from the one seller.

Do you no longer want the items and now want to change to a different items from the same seller?

I am having difficulty understanding what it is you actually want to do about these purchases so maybe the seller is having a little difficulty understanding what you want.

If you could try to explain here what it is you want to do then maybe one of the wordsmiths here could help you word a message to the seller. If you find that suggestion offensive then I am truly sorry but I am only trying to help.
