I received an email informing me that a purchase I had made and paid for along with postage has been

Got an email today informing me that one of my purchases on eBay from the US has been stopped from delivery by GSP as the item is  restricted, I have checked eBays list of restricted item and cannot find it listed on the website, the item is question is a updraft carburettor (a car part) I have bought these before without problems so don't know what's happened and I can't seem to get an answer as to why it has been identified as restricted, I can't find one here in Oz and need to get one from the US, does anyone know if there's a  process by which you can challenge the decision by the GSP to stop delivery or at least get the item back to the seller so that they can send it via UPS, as the email stated that I was not getting getting the item and that the item was not going to be sent back to the seller, so what happens to the carburettor now? I need the carb to finish a restoration of a vintage Chrysler and I don't know where I'm going to get another carburettor, very Pi.... Off!

4channel, a carby once packaged is likely to be well over the limit of 4lbs to be sent via First Class International. Therefore, it would have to be sent at the next level, which is SIGNIFICANTLY high than first class. Once that happens, whether you like to accept it or not, it can often be cheaper to be sent via GSP. You have been told this countless times when you are trying to push your agenda, but still bang on about first class. Yes, it is an option for the types of items you buy, but it's not an option for lots of others whose items weight a lot more than a few records.

If there is any hint of contaminants on the carby, it would likely get rejected by USPS as well. The dogs would detect it and that would be that. No way they are going to allow flammable material through the system, regardless of whether it's been sitting on a shelf for years.

The OP just needs to hound ebay now about getting a refund, which will be difficult, but doable.

For items that are very rare, irreplaceable, very fragile or weird & wonderful electronic or machine parts, it's best not to risk it with Pitney Bowes and it's pet the GSP.  I've already had items damaged when they were re-packed at the Pitney Bowes depot.

...

How does one determine that it is Pitney Bowes re-packing and not the original efforts of the seller that are deficient?

C'mon tippy, you know as well as I do that critical analysis is not welcome in discussions about the evil, parasitic, herpes-like, blood-sucking, vampire-bat-head-chomping, vote-suppressing, turtle-strangling, mask-denying, soul-eating, quiche-making, petrol-sniffing, book-burning, line-dancing, item-smashing, karaoke-singing, Slytherin-supporting, stop-sign-eschewing abomination that is the GSP.

Please follow the established protocol, and restrict your comments to those of a speculative, inflammatory nature only.

Thank you Tippy.....pointing out that First Class International can only be used for small items is usually my job on the boards.

The next level up with USPS is very much more expensive and comparable to the costs of the GSP.

USPS sends much of their international mail with private couriers such as FedEx, UPS etc so you are unlikely to get cheaper prices than courier prices just because you choose to lodge them with USPS.
