I was emailing a seller regarding a caravan but it wants my ph number - is this new?

Hi - was trying to email a seller but it wont let me without giving my phone number. I havent had this happen before - is this new? I am not happy to give it out.

Is it a Classified ad?  If so then it is usual for the buyer and seller to negotiate directly so the seller would probably want to phone you.
