I won an Auction, and the seller wants more money

I won an item the other day.

The seller had a 8500 BIN price, and a starting Bid on 6000.

I won the Auction at 6000.
I have already paid for the Item via Paypal.

The seller is now saying he wants more money as the item did not sell for what he expected.

He is saying i can take my money back from paypal, (which i can't without a claim or him refunding it)

What are my choices? i do not want my money back, i want the Item.

also, Am i allowed to post the sellers name on here as a warning?

Re: I won an Auction, and the seller wants more money

Lyndal, I will be leaving negative feedback for a few reasons.

The Transaction is for a substantial amount of money.

The Seller has been rude, unhelpful, abusive and offensive.

The seller is trying to extort more money

The seller is telling me to take my money back from paypal, it has already cleared to his account. The only way i can get it back is through a dispute.

I will be escalating this to a civil case if i do not get my plates.

I will be putting in a dispute with paypal and also be taking it to the courts.

Would you mind if I asked what makes those particular number plates so special?

I also think the seller deserves negative feedback.

Anyone who sells an item then says the price is not enough has only themselves to blame.

If they are selling such an expensive item, I would have expected any reasonable seller to have checked out the selling process.

I am not sure where you stand on getting the goods but one thing has struck me here and that is all the talk of getting your money back from paypal.

Now let's say a buyer goes down that path, rather than go to the courts. They put in a dispute and paypal refunds the money.

This does not mean that the buyer is not out of pocket. If it is a small amount, it may not make much difference, but some bank accounts pay interest on the minimum balance each month, and having thousands of dollars out of the account for a few days would mean less interest earned that month.

The number plates are 5 digit heritage plates. I have been searching for a set for a few years in a good number combination (symmetry, multiples, repetition, patterns)

This set matched all my criteria.

I understand that you want the item you won but how much is it really worth?

By all means go to the courts but can you be sure that the seller will be ordered to hand over the plates. The only satisfactory outcome is for you to end up with the plates so have you had any advice as to the likelyhood of them being awarded to you?

Paypal offer protection UP TO $20,000 so how much protection do you have with this seller should you pay them $6000 into their Paypal account?

I hope you keep posting on this thread because I am very interested in how it all works out for you.

Good luck with it.
