That would depend on whether you bought from a registered business that could provide you with the invoice as eBay do not have the provision for sellers to provide them within eBay. I would contact the seller and ask them.

It depends on whether the seller is registered for GST. In theory, if their turnover is over $75000, they should register for gst, in which case you can ask them for a tax invoice. (And some sellers with turnover less than $75000 also register, but it's voluntary then).

You have to ask the individual seller, as their GST status is nothing to do with ebay (who are registered in Switzerland so that they don't have to pay gst on seller fees.)

Should ebay be supplying a valid Tax Invoice to the buyer for the GST component? If they cannot supply an Tax invoice, should they be able to charge tax?

Nope, eBay has been directed by the ATO to collect GST on their behalf from the buyer.

The Paypal invoice is acceptable for tax returns.

Yes, the ATO tells them to do that.

how wold you get a reciept from the individual business seller if they refuse to give you one and ebay wont tell you who they are?

Did you organise with the seller prior to purchasing to have them issue a receipt/tax invoice?

Most Australian businesses who are GST registered state in the listings that they will issue a GST invoice if you ask for it.....some even issue it automatically.
