Issue with an item purchased over 45 days ago

Hi there,

I bought a rooftop tent at the end of April for almost $900. At first glance it appeared fine however once we started using the tent a few weeks later it became apparent that there were severa quality issues, the main one being that the weather proof cover that goes over the folded tent did not fit properly.

I contacted the buyer through ebay messaaging who offered to send a new cover and also refund $150 as compensation for all of the other issues. The cover nor the refund arrived and I contacted the buyer again a couple of weeks later. I was told that the cover was coming from overseas and we would have it by the end of July. They also said that the refund would be sent at the same time. It is now early August and we're still waiting.

I tried to respond to the last message from early July but I get a message saying that I cannot respond. When I try to report the issue to eBay, apparently I cannot report an issue if the listing is over 45 days old. At the time there was no reason for me to doubt the seller, they had very good feedback and were quick to respond - now I wish I had just reported it straight away rather than giving him the benefit of the doubt!

Can anyone tell me if there is another way to resolve this? Any help would be much appreciated!!

Many thanks

This is why the seller has good feedback.

They stall till the time to dispute is passed and by then you may have left feedback or it is past the time to leave it.

NEVER let it go past the 45 days no matter how helpful a seller seems.

If you funded the payment with a credit card contact your bank about doing a chargeback.

it is a pity you didnt follow correct procedure to ensure the refund you were promised.

no matter how ''convincing'' a seller seems, you need, in future, to make sure you open a dispute on day 44,  you still have a further 20days to escalate to a 'claim' enough time indeed for the seller to sort it out.
