I will answer.
It is caveat emptor.
Hopefully the emptor will one day transition into the real world. But I don't hold out much hope.

It is and always has been up to the buyer to know what can and cannot be imported into their country. Ebay suggests that sellers make it clear that it is the buyer's responsibility to know what can be imported and that they are also responsible for any import fees, charges and duties.
If Customs impound and destroy an item the buyer is not entitled to claim a refund through paypal (and I presume through ebay now).
As for the GSP policy....it is even worse than ebay policy if it exists at all, which I doubt.
I usually quote knives as an example of their stupidity.....there are only a very small number of knives that will not get through Customs but the GSP refuses point blank to ship any knives to Australia.
To my certain knowledge they have confiscated a drum kit, an electronic keyboard and a guitar for no known reason. Not only did they keep them but the buyers were not told and it was only when they started looking for their items that the truth came out. No refunds, no notifications...nothing. Some members found that PB was selling these confiscated items on ebay themselves.....you can imagine how well that went down.
I honestly think it is a random thing.....there certainly does not seem to be any rhyme or reason for what they confiscate.

we (the boards) also had a motorcycle fuel tank refused by the UK GSP about a week ago.
the poster wasnt told why.
my only thought was perhaps it had fuel residule in it.
60 pounds loss to the buyer

Thrre is another seller with the same item 4 sale. I wonder if its worth the risk to buy it from them. I asked seller about purchasing it and they said it should be fine to be shipped to Australia. Mind you its a little bit expensive than the other item.
Did you not learn from the first one? Are you going to keep ripping off sellers because YOU refuse to comply with regulations? There are countless antibacterial powders available over the counter here. What's so special about this particular one? Or is it now a case of determination and pushing your luck? Are you going to come crying here when you get a whopping great fine for importing a restricted substance? Do you even understand what a restricted substance is?
Your luck is going to run out, believe me. You can only get away with doing this for so long before you get a knock on the door from an important looking person holding a big fine. Saying "I didn't know" won't cut it.
Buy it locally and save yourself the drama. Besides, we don't need another episode of "where's my item" when it takes longer than 48 hours to arrive.

There;s no brick wall big enough Padi. Even the Great Wall of China wouldn't be big enough for all the head bashing that I feel like doing.

Michelle, is this seller using the GSP?
If not then buy from them by all means as you will not be able to rip them off.
After the items arrive here and are destroyed by Customs there will be no refund....automatic or otherwise.
Items destroyed by Customs are deemed to have been delivered.
