Item not received.

bought a pair of shoes on the 1st of september, seller had not posted by the time specified in their description, so I sent them a message, and they said they ship within 2 days of receiving payment (which apparently they had according to paypal).
They marked as shipped on 06/09/13.

Estimated shipping date is 22nd but I had not received the item yet, and the seller removed the listing off ebay, and does not respond to messages.
I have opened a dispute with paypal, and seller had until the 5th of oct to respond, but still has not...

Now, I understand it's the weekend, but what worries me is that there has been several other neg fb left as of around 17th of sept by a few different ebayers all saying the same sort of thing, item not received and no response from seller.

In this situation, what is the best advice?
Will paypal give me a refund if the seller is unresponsive?
Is there any way to report this ebay seller as they seem to be a scammer?

Is it just me, but does it seem as though all the newer changes that ebay have made, make it a lot easier to scam people?

Because there's no real way to report ebay sellers for scammer-like behavior...

Just the sheer fact that the last 10 fb's left for this seller have said the same thing, and the fact that sellers can remove an item listing before feedback is left seems a little wrong to me.

With that option anyone could list an item, then wait for a buyer then delete it then there's sweet F.A that the buyer can really do about it?

You can report a member - go to the top right of your screen to the "Customer Support" Tab.

Once in there, you can select from two options, to "Contact eBay" or "Customer Support" to the left of your screen.

Click on the "Contact Us" tab, and you will then have 3 options to choose from, Go to "Buying" and in there is an option to "Report a Member"  or under the selling tab is "Report a Member" or "Report a Listing"

Follow the prompts and you will be taken to a screen giving you numerous contact options such as phone or email. I suggest either call them (1800 number) or have them call you (usually in well under 5 minute call back time).

You can then explain everything to a real live person, they can see your account and the transaction etc, and can take action including refering the seller to Trust and Safety for further investigation.

Ebay may have removed the listing, not the seller. Other members (who have left the negs) may have already contacted eBay and alerted them to the problem.

If this sellers trading hostory suggests that they have a good record prior to this, then chances are they are not scamming, it could be that something is wrong in their life, just keep that in mind.

A little while ago, we did have a seller with thousands of perfect feedback, then suddenly, the negs started rolling in and no communication. It was members here who discovered this and let eBay know that something was probably wrong with the seller, as that situation was very out of character from their prior trading history.

Well, if the buyer always uses a safe payment method, there is plenty that they can do about it.

Just because the listing is gone, does not mean the transaction is no longer accessible, and eBay and PayPal can take action if you follow the rules and procedures and you will get your refund.

If you haven't already escalated your Paypal dispute to a claim, log in to Paypal and do so immediately. If your seller is unable to provide acceptable proof of postage, you should be refunded the full amount paid (item plus postage) within 10 days or so.

1) As CQ has said, escalate to a claim with PayPal (if you have not already done so.

2) Yes

3) Yes, however keep in mind that if this pattern is not prevalent throughout their trading history and is only a recent occurance around a particular date, that something may have happened to the seller, (illness, medical emergency) they may not be trying to scam you.

If you did have a claim that the seller was supposed to respond to by the 5th, if they haven't, PayPal will find in your favour, but it sometimes takes them a day or two to review the case and process your refund. I don't think it is automatic, someone has to actually push the button, so all may be good in the next day or so.

Hope it works out for you

there's no notification of hiatus or anything... The fact that the item listing was just outright removed from ebay without any prior notification is what concerns me.

There is no need to be concerned, if you have a claim with Paypal, all will be good.

Where are you up to? Has your dispute been escalated to a claim? (You would have had to do this manually).

Is that when PayPal gave the seller 10 days to respond?

love, you're fine then. It probably says "being reviewed by PayPal", it will just take a day or so for them to make it officvial and refund you. It's not automatic.

If the seller does not respond to PayPal, they will automatically find in your favour and you will get your refund, ok?
