Many times it happens that a one click bid wins in the last second after your bid, but the new one click bidder has not bid before (at least not on the list of bidders) How does this work?

How do you know it was "one click bid"? Anybody can snipe in the last few seconds, you do not need to have bid before. Either you have to be good in estimating the right time or you can use sniping program.

I've manual sniped in the last fews secs - it was awesome fun ๐

Manual sniping with about 30 seconds to go is arguably a safer bet than using a sniping program, if you are prepared to bid higher than originally planned.
Place your max bid with 30 seconds left and if it's still not winning, you have the option of deciding whether to place another bid in the last few seconds or just leave it for the winner.

Safer? Why? But manual snipe is more fun, I try to snipe within 3 seconds to go, and once managed to get in right on the dot ๐ But i only do that if I will not be too upset if I do not get the item = there is plenty of similar around. If it is unique, I use program and it bids 3 seconds before end.

What you are seeing is not One Click bidding but snipe bidding.
The One Click option cannot be used unless a bid has already been placed.

Safer in the sense of giving you an option to increase your max bid and go much higher than you originally thought. A snipe program is good to just set and forget (and I used to use one fairly often for buying old magazines from the US) but it's good to manually check and see how the auction is going too.
One time recently I was trying to place a bid in the last few seconds and my connection was playing up. It fixed itself with 3 seconds to go and I got the bid in. That's one thing to be aware of, as unforseen things can mean no bid at all if you leave it too late. ๐

That is exactly why I leave it to the snipe program, the snipe bid does not come from my computer; my computer can be turned off, so there is no issue of my connection. It will snipe at the last 3 seconds, and as I always set it at the absolute maximum I am willing to pay, there is no reason to check, I would only lose if somebody bid more than I am willing to pay, which means more than it is worth to me and they would be welcome to it ๐ If somebody places high bid some time before the end of the auction, I get an email telling me there is a bid higher than I am willing to pay.

How do I get and use a snipe programme?. Is this part of Ebay buying.
