Negative feedback i leave is often removed

The feedback system is an entire joke.
Don't under any circumstances mention slow or late delivery as Ebay will remove that immediately regardless of waiting 15 days for postage and 32 days to receive. Next t ime it happened i tried just writing "negative" and that was it. Also removed.
Not a habitual neg leaver left about 6 negs in my life but it's useless leaving any feedback whatsoever. Except positive of course. We're now nearing the stage where just like for buyers the only feedback able to be left for sellers is positive.
so you have these sellers sitting on 100% without a neg anywhere to be seen and in both my recent cases i saw lots of negs that were removed in bulk to give the seller a clean slate. Sellers giving woeful service in so many ways appear to be a great seller.
Bordering on criminal collusion.
rant over.

But I gathered from what grandad wrote that it wasn't the case with his purchase.

He said:

but not lodged at post office until 15 days after order. Handling time given was 10 days.

Even if we gave them the benefit of the doubt and put this as 10 business days, it is still outside the expected handling time.

Not necessarily, though.

If you buy between Tues-Fri, 10 business days later is automatically two weeks later (14 actual days), presuming there are no public holidays within that time frame.

Some people also count the day of purchase as the first day, when it's not (otherwise there wouldn't be the ability to set handling time as 0 days, which indicates same day), so what I was trying to get at is the possibility the OP's "15 days later" was actually right at the end of the seller's 10 business day handling time (presuming no public holidays).

DG you may very well be right.

But my suspicion is a lot of buyers would be getting antsy by then because until something is in the post, buyers don't know for sure that a seller is going to honour the transaction. Even a seller who has thousands of sales, a buyer might be worried their order has been forgotten or overlooked.

I guess all I am saying really is a seller who routinely leaves it to the very last gasp within their stated posting time is providing pretty ordinary service and risks getting pretty ordinary feedback.

It's about perceptions.Buyers might be wrong to judge it that way, but I think a lot of them do, & sellers need to deal with the situation as it is. I suspect any seller who can't post things off within a week (even if the handling time says 10 days) would probably be better off selling elsewhere.

springyzone,

Why would anyone be getting antsy is beyond me! Especially on Ebay - with all the buyer protections in place.

For non urgent things I have a month to receive them before filing an item not received. Urgent stuff I buy in the shops.

I NEVER pay any mind to Ebay's "dates", nor even to the seller's handling times - that is their business and at their convenience when they post items - not my place to jump up and down and demand this and that - if it arrives - great! - if it doesn't - money back - end of story.

Life is too busy and too short to worry about totally useless things, things that don't even warrant a second thought, let alone "getting antsy" over - on Ebay you either get the item or your money back. Simple. And in the mean time - you're happy and would have saved your self a lot of nerves!

Just looking at the overal number of complaints, worry, anger, rudness, vindictiveness, being "antsy" etc... I am convinced that Ebay is bad for one's health - it seems to make people sick!

But human nature being what it is, a lot of people do fret. I'm not convinced it always is as simple as you say-that people always get their item or money back. I've seen quite a few posts from people where that didn't work out, for one reason or another.

Also, I think people who are seasoned ebay experts/users can overestimate how much occasional users know.

A year or so my daughter 'sold' something on ebay but thereafter never heard from the buyer again, let alone saw any payment. I told her she would be paying fees on the sale unless she put in a unpaid item report. She had not had a clue she could do that, then at first she said it was too much bother to try to find out how for the small amount of money involved, then in the end she did it. But what's the bet quite a few people are like that and (as buyers) just want their item, not the bother of having to make formal claims etc

I would say most people who buy an item (from anywhere, not just ebay) probably don't follow your example:

I NEVER pay any mind to Ebay's "dates", nor even to the seller's handling times - that is their business and at their convenience when they post items - not my place to jump up and down and demand this and that - if it arrives - great! - if it doesn't - money back - end of story.

I personally don't fret if an item arrives a few days past an estimated arrival date. But if a few days went past that date PLUS there was no sign the seller had even posted it, then I would start to feel annoyed. If a seller said they would post eg within 5 days, but then didn't post for eg 3 weeks, I'd feel I had been given fairly poor service. I'm not trying to demand this or that but they're the ones who wrote it in the ad in the first place.

I think the majority of other buyers are similar. Plus-people may be buying an item for a specil purpose or occasion. If they have left plenty of time, then it is pretty annoying to be let down. I had it happen with a simple headband I bought from a local seller about 5 weeks before a hen's night and it didn't arrive in time.

Fixwear, I guess all I am really saying is you're a seller's dream buyer, but I'm betting 99% of customers are not as easy going as you are.Smiley Happy

You're right, buyers should take into account that sometimes holidays, bad weather and just Aust Post generally can cause hold ups.

And we all know that some buyers don't.

To me though, communication on the part of the seller is important and I count marking that 'posted' icon as part of the communication.

I think if I had floods in my area at the moment I would also be letting my buyers know I had posted but there could be delays.

Im aware i am probably coming across as a hard case but I don't think I am really. But I have felt the frustration from slow deliveries at times (I am not necessarily just talking ebay) and I do know that without some communication or tracking number, after a while you do wonder if perhaps something has gone wrong.

6 out of 100 hey it was a figure of speech possibly 4 and only when warranted and out of much more than 100. You think what you see is everything but it's not.

If you don't say what mean, people will assume you mean what you say.

The courier company support their lies by putting in an "attempted delivery" even though nobody had been anywhere near the place.

If the problem was with the courier lying about delivery, why would you leave a neg for the buyer.?

Because he is not a grandpa and has a 'me' generation outlook on things. Or could well be a grandpa and has no idea of internet buying. Or Australian consumer laws.

Of course he could always be a scammer, which every generation throws up some of.
