I purchased an item from a seller with a name that indicated they were an Australian seller but turned out to be from the UK.
My fault for not checking.
However, they have left feedback and also indicated it was sent on July 18th. Delivery was estimated at August 3rd.
It has not come, I have contacted them 3 times already but they don't reply.
They have lots of good feedback.
I needed the item today.:|
So, what to do? Any advice appreciated.

OK, it is 30 days today and I haven't received my item yet, so I contacted my seller in the UK. Luckily, I got a reply pretty quick and he is very helpful. He asked if I prefer a refund or that he sends the item again.
Do you know when mail from the UK will be back to normal?? Should I ask for a refund and buy the item again in a couple of weeks or so? Or do you think it is OK if I ask him to send the item again now?

I would ask for a refund and try to find the same item somewhere else.
Incidentally, I live in Australia and buy and sell to and from the UK regularly. Right in the middle of the Olympics I bought a lovely item from a UK seller and less than 5 business days later I had it in my hands. Now THAT'S what I call service!!! Sold something to a UK buyer around the same time, and that took 6 days to arrive.
Anyway, it proves there aren't really any mail delays caused by the Olympics - at least, not in my case.

Actually at the time when I bought that item there were no other sellers who had it at that price... ๐
I will think what to do overnight...

There is no "normal" mail these days. No matter where you buy from you will find delays and inconsistencies with services.
I have been buying regularly from Edinburgh for nearly 2 years now...at first the mail was arriving in 4-6 days. I received a parcel today that was paid for in mid July. It was posted immediately, so nearly a month. Other mail is arriving well within a week
The UK mail may be a bit quicker after the Olympics, but I would not count on it.
Mariq, if you are going to buy from overseas you need to lighten up a bit. Sellers have no control over the time the mail services take once the items are posted.
If you really want the item just ask the seller to replace, and be prepared to wait...it will arrive when it arrives.

The seller is stll trading. I have sent another email and gave them till Monday night to reply. I have lodged the pay pal thing so now wait to see.
Thanks for the advice, I was hoping it was just an oversight.

It may still be an oversight, or delay in transit, but at least you have protected yourself. Good luck

Well, I haven't heard back from the seller since I told him I preferred a refund... He used to reply immediately until now. But the 15th is a holiday in Europe (I think?), so he might be away for a couple of days. I will contact him again in 5 days and open a dispute in 7-8 days if he doesn't reply.... But I hope this won't be the case...

Sounds about right... I spent 3 months in Scotland when I was 8, 2 weeks without rain
