The subject says it all - I'm now told (despite being told previously by someone at eBay customer support that I definitely qualified for the voucher) that I don't qualify for this voucher as my recent purchase was in US dollars (but made on ebay.com.au)! The terms state '2.To be eligible to receive the $50 eBay voucher, you must make a purchase of $200 or more (item costs only, postage not included) on eBay.com.au during the Offer Period'. It does not state that you can't buy something in US dollars that converts to well over $200AUD (& therefore easily qualifies) - it says 'make a purchase on ebay.com.au' which I did.
My purchase when converted to AUD was around $282 before postage & I would not have purchased this item without this $50 carrot being dangled in front of my face so I'm livid here & customer support is proving as useful as a chocolate teapot. Does anyone know how to complain at a higher level as I've just about had it with 'customer support'? Anyone else having problems?

If you purchased on ebay.com.au it wouldn't be in US$.
I think you will find it was purchased on ebay.com
If you log onto ebay.com.au, do a search and click to buy something overseas, it will automatically revert to that site and often buyers don't realize they are on another site until they see the currency has changed.

You can search items on ebay.com.au and International items will show if the seller posts to your location.
And if listed on another site when you purchase you will be asked to sign in again because you are going to a different site, the currency will change and so will the address in the address bar on your browser.

I purchased on ebay.com.au and it was in USD. I was not on ebay.com. Sign in again, nope that didn't happen either so I disagree with everything you're saying with respect. I've bought from the US (through ebay.com.au) on many occasions and none of those things happened.

They're not disagreeing with me that I bought on ebay.com.au. They said 'Since this is an eBay Australia promotion, the item purchase should be in AUD. For this reason, I’m afraid that the voucher can’t be given on your account'. Of course, none of this is in the terms and conditions of the offer!

This isn't correct. When you're browsing you see AU dollars but when you go into the listing it shows in the currency it was listed in. I've bought many thousands of dollars worth of items from overseas and it was all done on ebay.com.au but I bought in US dollars or UK gbp, and was invoiced in the seller's currency.

Thanks for the info and I stand corrected.
Listings cannot be listed on the au site and selected as US$.
However you will find the listings were listed on the USA site but I forgot about the option to tick "Visible on AU or UK sites".
If the listings show postage quoted from USPS then it cannot be listed from the AU site. All listings on AU will only give Aus postal options.
So you are both correct in these listings are on AU because seller chose extra visibility options, but the listings if shown in US$ means it was listed on US site therefore eBay cannot apply the offer.
This is an oversight on eBay's behalf, they have forgotten about this feature causing a problem for the promo.
Or their terms should have been, only valid for AU site purchases in AU dollars.
